Lilacs and Lemons at Papertake Weekly

It’s my last week as guest designer for Papertake Weekly.  It’s been great this past four weeks and what a great pleasure to work with these ladies.  bird song willow The challenge this week is to use lilac and lemon on your creation.

When I first thought of this color combination I didn’t really know what I would do with it.  So I pulled out some lemon tart and lavender moon Papertrey Ink paper and decided I didn’t need anything else.  I almost ALWAYS use DP but I’m really happy how this turned out!

I used my brand new Willow image from Whiff of Joy and my Copics!!!  I picked up a skin toned Copic the other day so that I could use the Copics to color people as well.  I still do love my watercolors but Copics give a completely different look and they are a lot quicker.  And they are a lot of fun to play with!!!  I won’t be using them all the time yet.  I don’t have enough colors to do much shading.

Come back tomorrow for Flutterby Wednesday.  It’s going to be another great week!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Papertake Nest

I’m so pleased to be guest designer at the Papertake Weekly Challenge for the next 4 weeks.  As always, their challenges are always fun and intriguing.  My first challenge as guest designer is a sketch challenge.

ptw _35 And here’s my take on this weeks sketch.

butterfly nest

Haven’t the Olympics been great!.  I think the free skate in ice dancing is my fave Olympic event.  It’s so entertaining.  Now the women skating.  Yay!!!  Plus on Thursday, fellow Idahoan (he’s even from Boise) Jared “Speedy” Petersen does the freestyle and he is favored for the gold.  We had a gold medalist cycler in the summer Olympics so it would be great to also have a winter gold medal from Boise!!!

I’ve got a lot of things coming up here on my blogo and I’m trying to get a bit ahead of myself so I don’t get overwhelmed.  That can happen so easy!!!  Plus, if I would get back organizing my creative space, I might get more done!!!

Blessings,
Christine

Peace on Earth

I’m, once again, guest designer on the Winter Wonderland challenge blog. This weeks challenge is no Christmas stamps or Christmas paper on your creation.

Peace on Earth (2)

I bought this Sizzix die last year to use on my Christmas cards but didn’t get around to making Christmas cards last year. That’s really changed this year, huh?

Peace on Earth I chose to go simple with my card since I wasn’t using Christmas paper. I mounted the die cut on a circle and mat cut with my nesties. I embossed the backing paper with a CB snowflake folder and tied a bow around it. I thought about adding some jewels to the embossed snowflakes but I think that would have just detracted from the cute image! But I did add a little doodling to the cut.

You can’t see it in the picture but I rubbed Versa Mark ink on the snowflake and embossed it with iridescent embossing powder.

The Bee Crafty challenge is today and I’ve scheduled a post to go up later so be lookin’ for that!

Blessings,

Christine

Winter Wonderland with St. Nicholas

A long time ago, I was chosen to be guest designer for the Winter Wonderland challenge blog. The challenge this week is St. Nicholas. You can interpret it however you would like!

100_4464

I decided to go with a vintage shabby feel. The St. Nic and sentiment are both Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stamps. I watercolored St. Nic and then cut and matted him with my nesties. I got the DP at Hobby Lobby and added some vintage buttons from my stash. I strung some ribbon through some lace (from my stash) and attached that to the card. I love these vintage images, don’t you?

Come back next week because they’ve asked me to be GDT for two weeks! Yay!!!

Blessings,

Christine

If you’ld like to play along with the Winter Wonderland challenge, go to their blog and check out all the lovely DT projects!

Christine
