My Last Sugary Sweetness

Well, not really my last; but my last as guest dt. I’m sure I’ll continue to use their images often. The challenge this week at Modern Sugar Boulevard is to make a shaped card. I made an octagon shaped card using Welcome Home from the Life's Simple Pleasures collection.

I made this card a couple of weeks ago so I’m not sure what the DP is now. I colored the image with water color paints and added some flat back pearls to finish it off. Do you see the little birdie at the front of the scene. I colored him like a robin red breast. You can’t tell very well in the picture. I had to scan it because my camera battery was dead and I couldn’t find the charger!

I cut the card out using the George cart with Cricut Design Studio. Using Design Studio you can “weld” images together which works perfect for making shaped cards. I haven’t purchased Design Studio yet. You can download a free trial copy at the Cricut website but you can only cut with the original cartridge that came with your machine. Since I have a baby Cricut, I can only use the George cartridge.

Sugary Butterfly

This is my final card for the Modern Sugar Boulevard release.  They were having problems with their computer system yesterday and weren’t able to get the new images up but you can go take a look now.  Besides the images that they gave me to play with, they have several more great images. And there’s good news.  Because of the problems that they were having, they are offering 30% of this weekend.  Just go to the MSB blog and follow the link for the discount!

I used the Reach For It Mama image.  I printed the butterfly in three different sizes then colored them and cut them out.  I used watercolor paints to color both images and the sentiment is computer generated using a Fonts for Peas font.  The paper is DCWV Garden Party stack.  I added some brown jewels here and there for a final touch.  She has a necklace, bracelet and earrings on and I had tiny brown jewels to make her jewelry.

I spent today making note cards to put on the fans that we will be giving out at my niece’s wedding.  The fans will be a welcome gift if the weather holds out like it has been.  Its been the mid 90s clear up to 104 this past week.  It’s good that my brother’s back  yard is on the east side so we’ll have shade in the evening.

Sugary Camper

I have another card for you from the Modern Sugar Boulevard new release which you can now purchase at their store website.

This is the Growing Up image from MSB. Isn’t he the cutest guy you ever saw.

I colored him with water colors and used (oh, I hate it when I have to get up and see) the Debbie Mumm Travel matt stack and the little buttons I got at Walmart. I cut the camper and cirle with the Cricut Going Places cart.

The sentiment is computer generated using a font I got at Fonts for Peas. If it’s peas she wants for her fonts she can have all of mine. Just hand me your plate and I’ll scrape them off!!! Yuck! Anyway she has some very cute handwritten fonts that you can download and use for free!

That’s about it! I have one more post and then I hit the shower and get out of here. I’ve errands to run all day.

Sugary Hope

Wow, it’s Thursday and guess what?  You can now order the new digi images from Modern Sugar Boulevard!!!  And that also means I get to show you the cards and project I made with these images. 

If you saw my previous post, you now know that I have a message board that has a calendar on it.  I made the August calendar header for a Chriper project.  I used the new Support Bracelet image from MSB to make the September calendar.

Now, I know what your thinking.   

1.  What does a support bracelet have to do with September?

2.  What does a green bracelet mean?

3.  What does the red bracelet mean?

Well, I’ll answer them all in this post.

September is a very special month for me.  Not only is my birthday on the 23rd (see the ice cream cone) but I had my heart transplant two years ago on the 7th, signified by the heart (clever huh?). 

The red bracelet, of course, signifies heart disease awareness and the green bracelet is for organ donation awareness.  When I received this image, I new exactly how I was going to use it.  I used the Doodler…Show Your Support Image from MSB in combination with the Support Bracelet image.  They are made to go together. 

Normally, Doodler is holding an awareness ribbon that you can color for whatever you would like.  I cut that image away using Photo Shop and instead, attached an Organ Donation Awareness pin in its place.  I think I’ve given these pins to almost everyone I know.  They stopped offering them so now I’m hoarding the stash that I have.

I’ll give you the short version of my transplant story.  I was living in Utah awaiting my transplant when I went shopping at Wal-Mart for a pair of slippers that I could wear at the hospital when my phone rang.  I recognized the phone number as being from the University transplant team.  When she told me to come to the hospital because they had a heart for me, I about fainted right there in Wal-Mart.  Instead, I headed to the door as fast as I could (I wasn’t moving very fast at that point; I was pretty sick.) and headed home to get a ride to the hospital.  Once there, they couldn’t figure out what to do with me but they got it all figured out and after hurrying to wait, I got my new heart!  That was the best day of my life!

I’ll be be back in the morning with my cards.  I know it’s already a.m. but my morning usually starts at about 11:00.  What can I say, I’m a night owl!  I told you on Monday that I had been crafting all weekend to show you some lovelies.  I delivered as promised.  Five projects and I still have two more that I can’t post yet.

Well, for some reason, my TV just turned itself off and I can’t get it back on again.  I hope it didn’t die on me or something.  That would be horrible.  I guess that means I need to shut up!

Sugar Hippie Chic

I think this is going to be Modern Sugar Boulevard Day. I just noticed that the MSB blog has posted one of my GDT projects. Now I get to show it off to all of you.

I have wanted this image since I first saw it on MSB. This girl is definitely my inner hippie. Only a few years ago, I drove a Volkswagen bus with HIPPIVAN on the license plates. I wanted FLWRPR but it was taken. I wish I still had it. It was great for camping. When we were camping, everyone called it “The Condo.” Sooooo much fun!

Everything about this box was fun, fun, fun. Of course, I used Modern Sugar Boulevard’s Precious Hippie Chic and I water colored her in my fav colors. I used to own some jeans like these in the 70s.

I got the instructions for the box on the Scor-Pal website. I downloaded the instructions so I can send them to anyone who would like them. I made the bottom part of the box from pink cardstock and the top is made from some tie die looking cardstock from my stash. I think the dp is DCWV but I can’t remember which stack. I cut the flower with the flower2 image from the Cricut Doodlebug cart. I added a Basic Grey button in the middle and finished off with some tiny buttons I got at Wal-Mart.

The little pom-pom fringe is by MulitCraft Imports that I got at Craft Warehouse. I’ve had it for awhile but now that I’ve used it, I NEED more!!! I’ll be headed over there tomorrow to get some more in every color. I hope they haven’t sold out of it yet!!!

Craft Warehouse is on the other side of town but I don’t mind heading over there because that’s the perfect excuse to go to Iceberg.

They have awesome food. I always order a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a raspberry chocolate shake. Mmmmmmm! Are you jealous?

Sugar Gate

I scheduled this post for yesterday but just realized it hadn’t worked. Sorry!

This weeks challenge at Modern Sugar Boulevard is a sketch challenge with a twist.

The twist is to only use purple (any shade) with black and white. I colored the In the Flower Garden image in black and white and then colored the flowers in shades of lavender.

I love the Life’s Simple Pleasures line of of stamps from MSB.

I used the Core’dinations Black Magic cardstock. I love using this stuff!!! I embossed it with my Cuttlebug and then sanded it to bring the lavendar out. I triple matted the image with lavendar, black and then lavendar again. I added some lavendar Dew Drops (you can’t see them very well) and some ribbon and wa-la, it’s a card!!!

It, has been HOT, HOT, HOT here. It was 103 degrees today. Ugh. I really don’t mind sitting in the house and crafting the day away, but poor Chloe. She doesn’t get much play time.

Stay tuned this week because I’ve got lots in store!!! I’ll be crafting all weekend in preparation.

I’m out’a here to take Chloe out to throw her ball around! That’s her favorite thing to do!

Modern Sugar Boulevard Release

I promised a full peak of the new Modern Sugar Boulevard card.  Isn’t she a cute soccer mom.  This, as well as all the other new images, will be in the store tomorrow!  Yay!!!

Well, in my case, I had to make her a bowling Mom.  I started coloring the soccer ball and realized I had no idea how to color a soccer ball so it became a bowling ball (hehe).  Next time I’m coloring the soccer ball first and then the rest of the image.  I saved the part I didn’t like for last; what a mistake.

The DP is DCWV Grade School stack and the buttons are from my white button stash.  I have a 1/2 gallon jar almost full of white buttons!  I think the sentiment is Hero Arts (her kids had a winning season).

I might not have any more cards until Sunday.  My niece’s bridal shower is in my back yard on Saturday.  I have A LOT of work to do before then.  Things will go back to normal after that (as normal as they can be)!

Modern Sugar Boulevard Release

Today I have for you the card from yesterday and another sneaky peeky from Modern Sugar Boulevard.

Did anyone guess?  I bet you didn’t.  Bacon and eggs.  Oh, now I’m hungry!!!  I could use a nice blueberry muffin to go with that, yum!  I water colored the bacon and eggs and used a  little yellow paint to highlight the sentiment but you can’t see it in the photo.  The DP is DCWV Nana’s Kitchen and the ribbon is from Michaels.  I used the MS border punch twice and the buttons are Favorite Findings.

Do you have any ideas?  I don’t think it’s what you think it is, ya think!?!  The new release is coming out on July 9th!!!

I went to all of my regular scrap hangouts to find some patriotic paper and found none in the nice bright colors. I searched and searched and found some free digi paper at Serenity Sheri's blog. I added a few buttons tied up with some crochet thread and some fun red rick rack and that was it!!!

Floral Gate

The challenge at Modern Sugar Boulevard is a sketch.This was a tough sketch; a card made to fit in a legal envelope.  Then I remembered, when working with digi stamps, you can print them in any size. 

At the last MSB release, I bought several of the stamps.  They had such beautiful garden images.  I printed the gate at a regular size and then the two windows on the sides are printed at about 1 inch. 

I colored the images with water colors.  The DP is K & Co.  I used the Martha Stewart punch for the scalloped border and added little pearls to each scallop.  I also put pearls on the top corners but you can’t see them well in the photo.

That’s about it.  I’ll be back tomorrow with the first of my niece’s wedding shower invitations but then I’ll have to make 20 of those and other things around the house.  Did I say that I hate housework?!?!

Garden Window

Isn’t this a lovely image. This is from the release at Modern Sugar Boulevard. They have several garden scenes in this release and they are all beautiful. I bought most of them!!! They will all work well for water coloring. The paper is all K&Co. I used a Martha Stewart border punch and added little pearls on the scallops and corners. The ribbon is recycled from something I purchased, I just can’t remember what.

I used the sketch from Stamp Something and the challenges at Scrappy Frogs and ABC is summer time (gardening is one of my favorite summer time activities). The challenge at Our Creative Corner is to use a border punch and Crafty Creations is garden. The challenge at SPCC is celery, rose and cocoa.

Modern Ice Cream Shoppe

I must be getting bored with my diet because I seem to be making a lot of cards with ice cream and sweets on them lately. The image is from Modern Sugar Boulevard and I colored it with primas and gamsol. The DP is from the DCWV Sweets stack. I cut the hex out with a Spellbinder and chalked the edges. I chalked the edges of the DP as well. It’s hard to see in the photo but there is a small torn piece of pink dotted paper behind the hex.

The sketch is from Everybody Art. The challenge at Charisma Cardz is pink and brown and the challenge at Cute Card Thursday is die cuts.

That’s about it for tonight. Since it’s 3:00 am I guess I should go to bed. Nitey nite all!

Purple Pedicure

Can you believe this card fits two sketches?  Well it does!!!  Every once a while two challenges have similar sketches.This card follows the sketch at both the Stamps and Smiles challenge and the Digital Tuesday challenge.This card is also for the Dare U 2 Digi Stamp challenge (ribbon) and Cardalicious (at least two flowers with ribbon and the color blue – the blue is hard to see in the photo but there are blue flowers and stems on the DP and the image is matted in blue).

The image is Precious Spa from Modern Sugar Boulevard.  I colored her with Prismas and gamsol.  I’m not sure what I’ll be doing with this card so I will and the sentiment or some bling to the bottom later.

I decorated the inside with some scraps.  The DP is DCWV Pocketful of Posies.  I’ve got one more I did tonight and then I’m off to bed!

Cuppa Sugar Bookmark

I love these corner bookmarks.  I made four blank bookmarks while I was making this so now I have some to decorate in the future.  This is another one I used for the Modern Sugar Boulevard Create a Card Blog Candy giveaway.  One of the reasons I love digi stamps so much is because you can resize them to any size you would like, which makes them perfect for my bookmarks.

Of course, the image is from Modern Sugar Boulevard and I colored her with Prisma Colors and gamsol.  The corner embellishments are cut with the Cricut Storybook cartridge and the DP is from a box of 300 K & Co. papers.  Am I gonna have fun with that or what?

Retro Sugar Bath

I made another card for the Modern Sugar Boulevard Create a Card Blog Candy giveaway. I printed all these digi images yesterday and thought I might get them all made up in time for the giveaway. I used the sketch from 2 Sketches for You but ended up changing it a bit. I hope it still works.

I was going for a retro look with this one. I have a 50s kitchen and have always wanted a 50s bathroom too. When I see these old bathtub images it always reminds me of the fifties. I colored her with Prisma colors and gamsol and the DP is from a Me & My Big Ideas stack.

I guess that’s about all I have to say about that, huh? I’ll be back in a couple with another card. I made three today.

Pink Gardener

Here is another card for the Modern Sugar Boulevard Create a Card Blog Candy contest. You can enter this contest as many times as you would like until May 29, for some great candy. I used the sketch from the Pink Elephant challenge. It also, by coincidence, fits the sketch from the Modern Sugar Boulevard weekly challenge. I chose the image based on the Rainbow Lady's challenge which is “G”, i.e., gardening.

Of course, the image is from Modern Sugar Boulevard and I colored her with Prismas and gamsol. I wish I would have printed her a little bigger – she was a little hard to color. The DP is from the DCWV Glitter stack.

Short and sweet again. I’m headed to bed.
