Butterfly Tilda

I think this is my favorite Magnolia stamp ever!  butterfly tilda I love her and I know that my mother loves her as well.  Since she uses most of my cards, I try to color her up regularly!  I was in the mood to create this weekend…but for some reason, I didn’t want to finish things!  100_7887 So this is what I did!  I was definitely in a water coloring mood.  I’ve got several cards to put together now.  Tomorrow, I’m just going to make cards!!!  The one in the front middle will be tomorrow's (Wednesday) post for McMahon Five Designs.  I’m not sure what I’ll do with the others.  I just wanted to color them!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Blessings,

Christine

Tilda’s Rose

This is one of my favorite Tildas (I think they are all my favorites. *giggle*) and whenever I color it, it reminds me of my sister, Rose, so I decided to make a belated birthday card for her.  Tilda's Rose I think I may have gone a little crazy with the distressing.  It looks a little better in person.

She’s coming this weekend to bring things for what is ending up to be a huge garage sale.  She already knows what her gift is.  I picked up an original Sizzix at a thrift store for $5.00 and asked her if she wanted it for her birthday. I have ordered the accessories that she needs plus a few other goodies to be delivered to her house next week.

Holly sent me some great Squigglefly images and I’ve been playing with them today.  I have an exciting project planned for them.  I hope it turns out as good as it looks in my mind!  Of course, the new images will be available on Saturday.

I hope you had a great Tuesday!  See ya’ on Wednesday!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Tilda’s Bicycle

I’m very well known as a night owl.  I definately get a late start to the day.  I was finishing up my Tilda card until 2:00 am and went to sleep about 5:00.  Yesterday my niece posted on facebook how sunny and blinding it was (maybe she was making a groundhogs day reference).  I commented on how the sun can hurt your eyes when you go out first thing in the morning.  My sister posted, “What first thing in the morning?”  I had to concede that it was first thing in my “day.”

tildas bicycleAnyway, I took photos of my card first thing of my day and did my computer work (e-mails, blog hopping, etc.) and now I’m posting at almost 4:00 in the afternoon.  That’s how my day goes.

tildas bicycle (3)Have you ever heard of “Dolly Parton Hearts”.  I learned how to do them in a tole painting class and now I always use them when painting small hearts.   You can see the tiny example over the flowers.  I used Diamond Stickles for my hearts.

Here’s how to make them.  Just squeeze two drops of Stickles side by side where they are almost touching.  Then touch in the middle of the two dots and squeezing the bottle gently to let out just a little paint and pull down slightly to make the hearts tail.  Practice it; they’re really fun and easy.  When done with paint, use the end of your brush, a toothpick or a q-tip to make the dots and then load your brush with paint and pull the heart’s tail down.  Easy peasy!!!

tildas bicycle (2)This is one of the new Tildas that arrived while I was gone.  I will list the challenges, as well as the products used below.

Now I need to go do some more unpacking and organizing so I can get even more done.  My goal today is to find room for and unpack my Cricut and my printer.  I have Squigglefly and Just Buggin’ projects that need to be done.  Lot’s of Squigglefly images that I haven’t had the time to print and color.  I’m excited to share them with you.  The latest one is just “peachy”. ;-)

Blessings,

Christine

Flutterby Wednesday

Once again, it’s Wednesday so it’s Flutterby Wednesday.  These weeks are going by so fast!!!  Our challenge this week was set by Michele and it’s to use buttons and bows on your creation and, of course, to use a fairy or a butterfly.

09-7-8 FBW I used the Tilda as Butterfly stamp with S.E.I. Chocolat paper  I got while in Utah.  I love going to the S.E.I. factory outlet when I’m in Logan!!!  I colored Tilda with watercolors before I picked out the paper but this matches perfectly, doesn’t it?  I ordered the Spellbinders a couple of weeks ago and this was the first chance I got use them.  I also used the MS border punch on two colors of coordinating paper and added some lace, ribbons and a button.

Now, go over to each of the DT member’s blogs (links on my sidebar) and to Dani’s blog and see some beautiful examples for inspiration; make your creation and go back to Dani’s blog to put a link to your card in Mr. Linky.

That’s about it for today!  I’ll be back later with the full peak from Modern Sugar Boulevard!

Blessings,

Christine

I was just going through some challenges for the week and The Next Level challenge is the same as FBW.  Yay!!!!

Tilda’s Summer

Tilda's SummerDoesn’t she just make you wonder what she’s thinking about.  Well, I’ll tell you.  She’s dreaming of the long days of summer, the picnics, the carnival, going swimming in the pond and eating chocolate ice cream cones.  I wish I were a little kid again so I could do all those things.  Wait, I can!!!

I’m  really liking my water color paints lately.  About a month ago, I was lucky enough to win the candy from Sandra at Paper Funtastics.  As part of the prize, she also sent me some of her handmade cards.  I was in awe of her cards and in particular, her water coloring technique.  She has been generous enough to share some things with me and I think it has really improved my painting.  It takes a little longer but it’s well worth the results.  Click on the photo so you can see it a little bigger and let me know what you think.

Of course, I colored her with watercolors and I put Shimmerz on her wings.  The paper is from the DCWV Sweets stack and the embellies are from a summer collection pack from Oriental Trading Company.  I’ve ordered a few things from them because some things are quite a lot cheaper and they seem to be of good quality.  I especially use their brads, eyelets and flowers. I kind of partial to that company too because they are located in a town I used to live in, Omaha, Nebraska.  They also have great kids craft and party items.

I used the sketch from My Time to Craft and the Just Magnolia challenge is summer.

That’s all for me tonight.  I have an image that I painted when my crafty muse was away so I can make that into a card but I’m thinking the next card you’ll see is my niece’s bridal shower invitation.  I found some cute DP and a great digi image that should be simple to color.  I plan to design it tomorrow and then start coloring images.  I’m thinking by the time I get finished with this wedding, I’m going to be tired of blue, yellow and green.

Added 6/23.  I didn’t realize I could play along with the Roses on Paper challenge.  I didn’t think I had the correct stamps.  Well, I do so this card is also going into their challenge and also their call for guest DT.

Blessings,

Christine

Magnolia Angel

Just Magnolia has a new challenge blog and the first challenge (a sketch) is this week. Since I have only one Magnolia stamp, you're going to be seeing this one until I can get my hands on more (hehe).

I used my new watercolor pencils and the image turned out a little darker than I had anticipated. The new pencils have a lot more color saturation than my old. I added a little glitter to her wings.

I used a paper pack that I got for free when I spent a bunch of money at Archivers. :-) I can't remember the manufacturer and I threw the package away.

Your going to be seeing this reminder until Saturday! Don't forget about my candy with a challenge. Click on the picture of the Martha Stewart book at the top of my blog and it will take you to the correct post. You have until Saturday to enter so hurry!!!

Blessings,
