Snowman Soup

I got a facebook message this morning from Danni of FBW, about a 5-1/2 year old boy, Noah, who is in the last stages of cancer. Is parents are planning on having Christmas this weekend and one of his wishes is to get as many Christmas cards as he can. I think that’s the least I can do for this brave child.

100_4438 I don’t think he will get it before their weekend Christmas celebration but I’ll be mailing it tomorrow.

This little snowman soaking in a hot tub full of cocoa is about the cutest image I’ve seen. It’s from Dustin Pike. I watercolored in blues and browns (adding Shimmerz to the snowflakes) and then cut and matted him with nesties. I then chose some paper from the DCWV Christmas paper stack. I chalked all the edges and then stamped the Studio G sentiment with S.E.I. Ink Blue chalk ink and added some pearly dew drops to the corners. I added a ribbon charm that says ‘hope’ on it. His parents are diligently working to find a cure for the Neuroblastoma cancer that Noah has.

If you would like to send Noah a card as well, his address is: Noah Biorkman, 1141 Fountain View Circle, South Lyon MI 48178.

Blessings,

Christine

Pirate Dinosaur

This is my second post for the day.  Please scroll down to see my friend, Coralie’s, Blogoversary giveaway.

Pirate Dino BdayI made this card for a little 4 yo boy in my sister’s Sunday School class.  She always asks the kids what is their favorite color and their favorite toy so I have something to go on.  This little boy said he loved his light saber and his favorite color is red.  But, whenever they do coloring projects, he always wants the orange crayon so I decided to add some orange as well.  I don’t know how to make a light saber but I thought a sword would do!

Both images, the pirate dinosaur and the background, are from Dustin Pike and the sentiment is from Stamps and Smiles and I water colored them.  The DP is from K&Co. and I added some tiny buttons.  It’s a fun card, I think!!!

Can you believe I couldn’t work in a challenge.  I know, I can’t believe it either.  That’s it for tonight (or I guess morning).  It’s time to go to bed!

Blessings,

Christine

First Birthday

I made this card for my great-nephews 1st birthday in July.

Cody bdayThe image is a Dustin Pike digi stam and I colored it with Prisma colors and gamsol and the sentiment is Hero Arts.

The buttons have a funny story behind them. Ever since my brother turned 50, we have been throwing big shindigs for everyone else’s landmark birthday. We started with my brother and give him old man clothes, Geritol, adult diapers, etc. The items are handed down to the next landmark birthday party minus a few things that the birthday boy/girl wants to keep.

50 bday On my fiftieth birthday, they gave me a big bottle of white buttons (it was a hold over from my sister’s birthday). We haven’t had another landmark birthday yet, but the buttons are not going on to the next birthday. They have a cozy place to live in my craft room. Did I tell you they made us put on all the old lady clothes. Thank goodness most of them didn’t fit.

Anyway, I used the sketch from Dare U 2 Digi Stamp. The One Stop Craft challenge is boys and the Creative Card Crew challenge is child’s play.

Blessings,

Christine

Nitey Nite Pink Bear

I recently heard from another one of my heart transplant friends. She and I “met” through a Congestive Heart Failure message board. She had been listed for heart transplant 6 weeks before I was. We emailed, usually several times a day, until long after she and I had received our transplants. Through a bit of bad luck and computer crashes (both of us), we lost touch. She has asked me to make some cards for her to give to the people that have helped her through her illness and recovery. I am so happy to do that since I have become addicted to card making!!! This is the first that I will be sending to her. I’m also going to go through the ones I have lying around and send some of those to her.

Nitey Nite Pink Bear (2)I used a free digi stamp from Dustin Pike. Isn’t this cute!!! He draws wonderful images and gives one away every Wednesday on his blog. As usual, I used water color pencils to paint the image. Everything else came from my stash.Nitey Nite Pink Bear

I also decorated the inside of the card.

I’ll be submitting this card to the Stamp Something challenge which is to make a pink Birthday card. Also, My Time to Craft’s challenge was to make a kid’s card.for a kid.

I used the sketch from a new challenge blog, Midnight Madness. I hate to tell everyone, but I will because you are my friends! For the next three challenges you can enter up to three cards for each challenge. For each of your entries, up to nine, you will have your name put in the hat for a drawing for a $100 gift certificate for Stampin’ Up goodies. But DON’T go check it out because I have had my eye on a couple of Stampin’ Up stamps for a while now.

By the way, you’ll probably be seeing this sketch a couple of more times.

Blessings,

Christine
