Bee Married

I have some good news to share with you.  Marrigan from Bee Crafty has asked me to be on her Design Team!  Have I told you lately that I that I LOVE digi stamps.  I’m not sure how I found Bee Crafty but I found her blog with her original release and challenge.

Bee Married

She hosts a challenge and release every two weeks.  This weeks challenge is marriage and she released a set of wedding themed digi stamps.  Aren’t these two the sweetest couple.

Of course, with my niece getting married in August, I made the cards in her colors, blue, green, and yellow.  I’m going to be really tired of these colors soon!  I colored the images with Prismas and gamsol and the DP is K & Co.

Bee Married (2)

I first printed the tree a little too big for the front so I decided to decorate the inside too.

Go on over to Bee Crafty and have a look at her challenge.  She is also giving away a free digi image with this challenge.

I’m really looking forward to working with Marrigan and the other Design Team members.  I really enjoy Marrigan’s drawing and am anticipating some fun creations.

This card also complies with the challenge at Pink Elephant which is wedding.

Blessings,

Christine

Cody’s First Birthday

Okay, I know I made a birthday card for my great-nephew Cody but I got this idea in my head and had to make it instead.  I can use the other card for someone else's bday.

Cody's 1st Birthday

Well, I didn’t really get the idea in my head until I saw these digi stamps at Bee Crafty.  Aren’t they cute!!!  I have some ideas going around in my head on how to make number and letter flash cards with these digi stamps.  I think I’ll include them as part of his birthday present.

Of course as I said, the images are from Bee Crafty.  I colored them with Prismas and gamsol.  The DP is from the DCWV Kids stack.  The star embellishment is a button from my stash and the star ribbon is also from my stash.  I got the colored buttons at Wal-Mart being the thrifty shopper that I am.

I started this card for the Bee Crafty challenge which is to use numbers or letters.  I think I’ve got that covered.  I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers  and the Everybody Art challenge is Happy Birthday.  The StampARTic challenge is animals.

I think it’s a cutie patootie card but I don’t think Cody will really know the difference being only one.

Blessings,

Christine

Thinking Flowers

Thinking Flowers (2)

One again I’ve used the sketch from Midnight Madness.  I do like this sketch but I might get tired of it by the third time!!!

Thinking Flowers

I decorated the inside too.

The image is a digi stamp from Bee Crafty and, of course, the image is painted with water color pencils.  The DP is DCWV-Sweets and the bottom right corner was made with a Fiskars corner punch and a Martha Stewart edge punch.  It’s hard to make something that little!!!

The Cute Card Thursday challenge is to make a card to cheer someone up and Fun Frilled challenge is make a card for a friend.

Blessings,

Christine

Sparklly Birthday Cake

Let's all say Happy Birthday to Bee. Why, you ask? Because she's the one giving a gift!!! You can download this digi stamp from her blog. Then use it to make a birthday card and enter her contest. The card she likes best will win one of her digi images! You wanna know how I know? Because I won her last challenge with this card ! (hehe)

I used the Stamps and Smiles sketch to make the card. After I finished, I checked my list of challenges and it also fits If the Shoe Fits, Scrap It (pink and brown), Our Creative Corner (favorite color combo -pink and brown of course), and 2 Red Bananas (wearing stripes). How's that for combining?

I used DCWV Sweet papers and water colored the cake slice. Doesn't it look delicious. It's like the cupcakes I made for Easter, chocolate with cherry icing. Yummmmy! I also glitter all the pink frosting to match the glitter on the dp. I haven't put the sentiment on it yet because I want to get some pink embossing powder. I that would be cute.

I hope you like your cake, Bee!

My Mother has been wanting me to come by a dig up a rose for her that she wanted to give to me. It was a very large bush and I was dreading the job. She called earlier this week and said my nieces boyfriend, Chris, dug it up for us. What a great guy!!! Thanks Chris! It was a huge job but now it's all trimmed down and it won't be too hard to plant. Now I'll have to dig a hole and plant it. That's my job for tomorrow!

If you read my Pink Saturday post, I had pictures of my Mother's flowers. I commented that she has chives in with her tulips. She has a reason for that. They keep the aphids off of the roses. I already have aphids on my roses so I'm definitely giving that a try!

I'll probably be back in a bit. I'm going to go outside and play with Chloe, my doggie, for a while and then get crafty again!
If you haven't entered for my giveaway, you still have time. Click on the Martha Stewart book above and it will take you to the candy with a challenge post!!!

Happy Butterflies

I love how this card turned out. I just think it's so cute how she is looking up at the butterflies as they are flying away! There is a nice verse about butterflies on the inside.

I combined some challenges with this card. I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers and Stamp Something's challenge is to use yellow, green and blue. The Pink Elephant has two challenges this week. Either a card for Mom or recycle something. Actually, this card fits in both challenges because I used some old crochet thread my Mom gave me instead of ribbon. However I won't be submitting it for both because you can enter two cards. I will be giving this card to my Mom for Mother's Day. She loves butterflies almost as much as I do. She just got a new computer and is attempting to get on the internet. I hope she doesn't get that all done until after Mother's Day because she might just see this card!

The image is a Bee Crafty digi stamp. She has a challenge every other week. You use one of her downloads and she picks her favorite card and the winner gets a free download. I love her images because they have a lot of open space for coloring or paper piecing.

The butterflies are cut out with a Cuttlebug die. The little green flowers are on the same die as the butterflies so I just used them for the center of the flowers. Of course, I water colored the image.

Don't forget about my candy with a challenge. Click on the picture of the Martha Stewart book at the top of my blog and it will take you to the correct post. You have until Saturday to enter so hurry!!!

Some Bunny Loves Chicky

Since I'm fairly new to cardmaking, to get inspiration I first find two challenges -- one with a sketch and another with a color or technique challenge. After I get the card made, I look through some of the challenges that I have bookmarked to see if my card fits one of the other challenges. I lucked out today; my card fit five challenges.

I first used the sketch from Friday Sketchers and Cafe Mojo's challenge to use either dry or heat embossing (my card has both). Then I looked around and found Daring Cardmakers challenge to use a chick or bunny on your card, Lili of the Valley's challenge to make an Easter card, and Creative Card Crew's challenge to use texture on your card. (I removed my card from this challenge because I shouldn't have combined this challenge with others.)
The image is the free Easter digi stamp that I got from Bee Crafty for putting her banner on my blog. Check her blog out for more information. She has another free digi stamp for everyone. Then you can use it to enter a challenge for another free stamp. Wow!!!

I'm getting better with the Prismas. This was a really fun one to color. I can't believe I made two cards before midnight. That's got to be a record!!!

Blessings,

Prisma Flower Girl

I bought a 72 piece set of Prismacolor Pencils today!!! I can't believe the difference in the Prismas and my other pencils -- night and day. I did have a problem though. The tips kept breaking off as I was sharpening them. I used the nice metal pencil sharpener that came with the set. The ones that broke usually broke more than once. I didn't sharpen them all (just the ones that I used on this image). So, if anyone knows of something I was doing wrong, let me know.

This was my first try with the Prismas. If you look closely, you can see the order in which I colored each section. I did the skin first, then the dress and basket. I then went to the hair and it definitely turned out the best. I did the flowers last and even managed to get a little bit of shading on the one in her hair. I like this image to practice because it has some larger areas to practice the shading. I'm going to print it out again a little larger and try again. I saw a prisma tutorial (I think it was on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog). I'm going go back and take another look at it now that I have my new pencils.

I used the free digi stamp that Bee Crafty is offering this week. She is having a challenge with her free download. If you use this stamp to create a card, you will be eligible to win her next digi stamp for free! You can enter more than once before 4-11 so I'll have plenty of time to make her prettier. I think her name is Annie!!!

Also, if you post her banner on your blog, you will receive a free Easter digi stamp. I also uploaded it to my sidebar in case you need to find it later.

I used the sketch from the Stamp Something Challenge. Since I'm a newbie to card making, it's much easier to get the creative juices flowing if I don't have to worry about the layout. The ABC Challenge is to use glitter so I used paper from the Glitter Stack. Love this paper!!!

I'll be playing with my prismas some more tomorrow. I can't wait to see how things turn out!!!

It's supposed to rain all week so I don't think I'll be getting my deck painted anytime soon. Oh, how I hate that (heehee). If you don't know what I'm talking about, see my flutterby post from Sunday.

Blessings,
