I love the new fashion of these drop charm necklaces and decided to make one with some Tim Holtz Idea-ology pieces.

Supply List

supply list I decided to use various items from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology line.

Salvage Stickers—Crowded Attic—so many things to choose from in this beautiful book.
Word Sticks—I love adding inspirational words to my projects.
Facets—these are gorgeous and really give the piece a professional look.
Type Charms—I just had to include my initial!
Swivel Clasps—this item is what started the whole thing. Ever since I first saw these clasps, I’ve wanted to make a piece of jewelry with them.
Sprocket Gears—love these but the piece ended up without it.
Word Keys—more words but on a beautiful key!
Philosophy Tags—and even more words.

Assemble Type Charm

The Type Charms come with all of the alphabet letters and a little adhesive bubble for each of the charms.

All you need to do is add your initial and then put the bubble on top of that.

Create Facets Charm

I chose this lovely 50s lady out of the Salvage Stickers—Crowded Attic booklet to use for my charm. You can use any type of paper you would like to create your charm.

I wanted to add a little color so I colored her simply with my Copics. This is where you need the packing tape. This particular paper is a sticker. Turn your paper over and apply a piece of packing tape to the back. The packing tape will add some stability and strength to the charm.

Using Matte or Glossy Accents (I think Glossy Accents would be a better choice), apply some to the entire back side of the charm. I did this on the reverse side of the Facets packaging so that I had the charm on something stable so I could move it out of the way into a safe place to dry. For me, this is very important. I’ve ruined more than one piece before it’s dry.

50s lady 4 I put this lovely lady aside to dry overnight. Trim around the charm. I used Tim Holtz Tonic Studios Scissors. You will also need to pierce a hole in the top of the facet. I took photos of these steps but when I checked my camera, they were gone. Sometimes when the battery is low on my camera, the photos aren’t saved.

Assemble the Drop Charm

I took photos of this step as well but they went missing!

I decided to add the items with color onto the Swivel Clasp so that I could change things up depending on the outfit. I added the remaining pieces to the chain on the Swivel Clasp.

When I make a drop charm I like to add it using an alligator clasp so I can attach it to any necklace I want. This one contains silver, copper and gold so I will be able to use any antiqued color chain I would like.

Simple Woman’s Daybook

I’m going to try to start being a better blogger. As you have most definitely noticed, I haven’t been blogging except for design team projects for several weeks now. Starting with the Simple Woman’s Daybook, I’m going to be posting each Monday. Simple Woman’s Daybook is supposed to be posted on Tuesdays but I will post on Tuesday but since I post for Paper Maniac on Tuesdays, I’ll post on Monday. So, for the first time in forever:

Outside my window...It’s a beautiful spring day! It’ll probably rain later, things are clouding up a bit now.
I am thankful for...my family. I went to my uncle’s 80th birthday party on Saturday and saw my cousins that I haven’t seen since I was a child. Such a wonderful time. This weekend, I will meet some long lost cousins. Seriously, you may have remembered me talking about a cousin I met purely by accident. Well this weekend, I will be meeting her sisters. Yay!!!
From the kitchen...same as usual. I don’t cook!
I am wearing...my pjs! Even though it’s past 11:00, I’m a night owl, remember.
I am creating...a tutorial for tomorrow’s Paper Maniac post.
I am going...no where. I love staying home!!!
I am reading...Light a Penny Candle by Maeve Binchy.
I am hoping...and praying for those in Japan.
I am hearing...the Young and the Restless!
Around the house...so much to do that I don’t know where to start.
One of my favorite things...motivation. After not feeling well for the last few weeks, I’m finally feeling better and well rested. I’m so motivated to get things done around the house.
A few plans for the rest of the week: I’m so excited to get started on all the projects around the house.

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing...Today I’m sharing a picture of my two sisters and the birthday boys children. Most of them anyway—he had 13 children.

She left her fears behind.

Earlier in the year I mentioned that I would be taking a class from Christy Tomlinson called She Art. The class started just a few days before I was to leave on my cruise so now I’m playing catch up! So here we have, my first She Art girl.

I love, love, love Christy’s style of collage and am so happy that I took the class!!! I’ll be incorporating a lot that I learned in just the first class in my future art projects. I can’t wait for the other lessons!!!

Christy is starting up a new She Art Workshop April 1st so, if you’re interested, go take a look. I can’t believe that I made something this cute the first time around!!!

I’m linking this canvas to the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge. Their challenge is to use a word. You can’t see it very well in the picture but the word “create” is in the upper left corner. Oh, I almost forgot—the words on the side say “She left her fears behind.” That’s what Christy put on her sample girl because it was appropriate for all of us taking the class. I agreed with her and used the same statement.

Most of the paper and other things on here are from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop paper pack. I used various stamps, the butterfly is a Chatterbox rub on and the other rub ons are Basic Grey.

Happy Homemaker

I love Tuesdays because because it’s my turn to share some beautiful projects using things from my favorite paper crafting store, Paper Maniac!!!

Today, I’m sharing a card made with some gorgeous products from the October Afternoon Happy Homemaker collection. Everything from the stamp to the paper to the journaling card is from the Happy Homemaker collection. This is one of my favorite paper collections ever. I love mid-century vintage and this collection epitomizes the 1950s. I love the 1950s so much that my kitchen is decorated in vintage 1950s!!!

I also used some Basic Grey buttons tied with some baker’s twine. I have a bottle full of Basic Grey buttons that I use all the time, not just when I use Basic Grey paper. The colors are all so plentiful and varied that they can be used with almost any paper line.

Butterflies and Blossoms with Flourishes

Hi all! It’s my turn again on the Paper Maniac Inspirations blog.

I love Flourishes floral stamps. This is one that came out a couple of releases ago and I’ve been waiting for some springy mojo to make a project with it. This set is Butterflies and Blossoms and comes with these beautiful clematis flowers as well as a smaller bouquet, some butterflies and some sentiments. I used some beautiful Memory Box paper for the background.

I’m still feeling under the weather. I don’t remember if I mentioned it but I banged my knee pretty bad as I got back on ship the last day of the cruise. It’s still quite sore and purple from the knee down. Plus, I caught a chest cold while I was gone so I’m just taking it easy. I haven’t even unpacked yet but I’m pretty sure I’ll rectify that one tomorrow. Yesterday, I spent most of the day sleeping and today I had to take a couple of naps but tomorrow, I’m sure I’ll be feeling much better. I guess I really had to pay for that vacation, huh? But it was soooo much fun and I met some beautiful Brave Girls from all over the country. I’ll try to get some photos together soon and do a post about the cruise.

My Little Clown

Hi all! I’m back from the cruise but still in Utah. I’ll be home late tomorrow evening and I can’t want to be home and sleep in my own bed. The sea was a little choppy so things weren’t very steady. I didn’t take anything for motion sickness and still didn’t get sick but only today have things stopped moving. I’ll do a post later about the cruise! It was a great time!!!
