So when the store is back up and running, just hold on to your seat.  All new product will be 25% off and there will be deep cuts on the rest of the stock!  It will be worth the wait!!!

Numbers ATC

Do you like Artist Trading Cards?  I love getting in on swaps for ATCs.  It’s so much fun to see how everyone interprets a certain theme.  If you would like to swap with me, the first four people to comment that they want to swap, well, let’s just do it!!!

numbers atcI made this ATC for a challenge.  Maybe I’ll give it away but probably not because I cheated a little.  Technically, ATCs should be able to be slipped into a baseball card holder.  With the large flower I attached to this one, it would never fit in a baseball card holder.

Most of the items I used on this ATC are Tim Holtz’s products—lots of Distress Ink, two Sizzix Tim Holtz dies, that little stick pen that attaches the ticket, a Tim Holtz stamp set and Distress Embossing powder.

That’s it for this week.  Don’t forget that theirs a big going out of business sale in the Paper Maniac store.  Everything is 30% off and they are flying off the shelves.  You better hurry and get yours today.

Blessings,

Christine

Sad News

I have very sad news for you today.  Paper Maniac is closing it’s (virtual) doors.

While that’s sad enough news, we have good news for all of you.  Patti is having a going out of business sale!!!

closing sale

Just use the code GOODBYE to get 30% of your entire purchase.  How great is that!  Plus, new merchandise is still coming in!

I’m sorry I don’t have a project today.  I’ve been fighting a migraine for the last two days so I didn’t get a chance to work on it.

Yee Haw, Y’all!

yeehawGood Morning!  With summer close at hand (here in Idaho we haven’t even had a 70 degree day yet), it’s also rodeo season.  The first rodeo of the year in Idaho is this weekend in a little town called Riggins.  I haven’t been there since I was a kid but it always proves to be quite the party with cowboys sliding down the hill behind the rodeo grounds riding on coolers, usually fueled by beer!!!  I’m going to have to try to make it one year!!!  However, my feet will be planted on the ground.  It’s much safer that way!!!

Now about my card.  I used the fun Cosmo Cricket Wanted 6x6 pad.  I love everything by Cosmo Cricket!!!  Speaking of, I’m actually going to the Cosmo Cricket warehouse this afternoon and meeting Julie Comstock.  I commented on her Facebook page about the Circa fabric and she invited me to stop by.  How cool is that!!!  I ‘m visiting in Utah in a town near where their offices are.

We’ll that’s it for today!  See y’all next week!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Fresh Beginnings

How was your weekend?  I had a terrific weekend!!!  About a year ago, through a very strange series of circumstances on a trip to Utah, I literally met a long lost cousin.  This weekend, I was able to meet her two sister.  It was such a wonderful time!!!

04-12 fresh beginningsIt’s Tuesday again so that mean I’m here with another project for the Paper Maniac Inspirations blog.

I love all the new products that Patti has gotten in the store.  The new releases from Webster’s Pages are definitely among my favorite!!!  Plus, the Webster’s Pages stamps by Unity make cardmaking easy!  I used some vintage lace and May Arts ribbon with a Basic Grey button added to the bow and some Kaisercraft pearls in the corner are the final touch.

Blessings,

Christine

Tim Holtz Idea-ology Jewelry Tutorial

Before I get started today on my Paper Maniac Inspiration blog post, I wanted to mention some of the sales that are currently going on.

Throughout the month of March all ribbon is on sale for 35% off.  Wow, that’s great!!!

Plus, we are starting the April sale early!!!  Here’s what’s on sale for April.

So run, don’t walk to the Paper Maniac store and go shopping!!!

******************

I love the new fashion of these drop charm necklaces and decided to make one with some Tim Holtz Idea-ology pieces.

Supply List

supply listI decided to use various items from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology line.

  1. Salvage Stickers—Crowded Attic—so many things to choose from in this beautiful book.
  2. Word Sticks—I love adding inspirational words to my projects.
  3. Facets—these are gorgeous and really give the piece a professional look.
  4. Type Charms—I just had to include my initial!
  5. Swivel Clasps—this item is what started the whole thing.  Ever since I first saw these clasps, I’ve wanted to make a piece of jewelry with them.
  6. Sprocket Gears—love these but the piece ended up without it.
  7. Word Keys—more words but on a beautiful key!
  8. Philosophy Tags—and even more words.

Items not pictured:

  1. Clear packing tape
  2. Ranger Matte Accents
  3. Paper piercing tool
  4. Other various jewelry supplies

Assemble Type Charm

type key 1The Type Charms come with all of the alphabet letters and a little adhesive bubble for each of the charms.

type key 2type key 3

All you need to do is add your initial and then put the bubble on top of that.

Create Facets Charm

50s lady 1I chose this lovely 50s lady out of the Salvage Stickers—Crowded Attic booklet to use for my charm.  You can use any type of paper you would like to create your charm.

50s lady 2I wanted to add a little color so I colored her simply with my Copics.  This is where you need the packing tape.  This particular paper is a sticker.  Turn your paper over and apply a piece of packing tape to the back.  The packing tape will add some stability and strength to the charm.

50s lady 3Using Matte or Glossy Accents (I think Glossy Accents would be a better choice), apply some to the entire back side of the charm.  I did this on the reverse side of the Facets packaging so that I had the charm on something stable so I could move it out of the way into a safe place to dry.  For me, this is very important.  I’ve ruined more than one piece before it’s dry.

50s lady 4I put this lovely lady aside to dry overnight.  Trim around the charm.  I used Tim Holtz Tonic Studios Scissors.  You will also need to pierce a hole in the top of the facet.  I took photos of these steps but when I checked my camera, they were gone.  Sometimes when the battery is low on my camera, the photos aren’t saved.

Assemble the Drop Charm

I took photos of this step as well but they went missing!

open neclaceI decided to add the items with color onto the Swivel Clasp so that I could change things up depending on the outfit.  I added the remaining pieces to the chain on the Swivel Clasp

When I make a drop charm I like to add it using an alligator clasp so I can attach it to any necklace I want.  This one contains silver, copper and gold so I will be able to use any antiqued color chain I would like.

completed neclaceSo, what do you think this necklace would cost at the department store?  Here’s a breakdown of what it cost me to make.

I had these supplies on hand.  The price of each is negligible.

  • Other various jewelry supplies
  • Clear packing tape
  • Ranger Matte Accents
  • Other various jewelry supplies

That’s a total of $3.28.  You definitely wouldn't be able to purchase it for that and this one is customized to my own artsy tastes.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.  Now go make some jewelry for yourself!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Happy Homemaker

03-22 happy homemakerI love Tuesdays because because it’s my turn to share some beautiful projects using things from my favorite paper crafting store, Paper Maniac!!!

Today, I’m sharing a card made with some gorgeous products from the October Afternoon Happy Homemaker collection.  Everything from the stamp to the paper to the journaling card is from the Happy Homemaker collection.  This is one of my favorite paper collections ever.  I love mid-century vintage and this collection epitomizes the 1950s.  I love the 1950s so much that my kitchen is decorated in vintage 1950s!!!

I also used some Basic Grey buttons tied with some baker’s twine.  I have a bottle full of Basic Grey buttons that I use all the time, not just when I use Basic Grey paper.  The colors are all so plentiful and varied that they can be used with almost any paper line.

See ya’ next Tuesday!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Butterflies and Blossoms with Flourishes

03-15 flowers and butterflies

Hi all!  It’s my turn again on the Paper Maniac Inspirations blog.

I love Flourishes floral stamps.  This is one that came out a couple of releases ago and I’ve been waiting for some springy mojo to make a project with it.  This set is Butterflies and Blossoms and comes with these beautiful clematis flowers as well as a smaller bouquet, some butterflies and some sentiments.  I used some beautiful Memory Box paper for the background.

I’m still feeling under the weather.  I don’t remember if I mentioned it but I banged my knee pretty bad as I got back on ship the last day of the cruise.  It’s still quite sore and purple from the knee down.  Plus, I caught a chest cold while I was gone so I’m just taking it easy.  I haven’t even unpacked yet but I’m pretty sure I’ll rectify that one tomorrow.  Yesterday, I spent most of the day sleeping and today I had to take a couple of naps but tomorrow, I’m sure I’ll be feeling much better.  I guess I really had to pay for that vacation, huh?  But it was soooo much fun and I met some beautiful Brave Girls from all over the country.  I’ll try to get some photos together soon and do a post about the cruise.

Blessings,

Christine

Anya’s Bunny

***2nd Post of the Day***

03-01 Anya's bunny

Hi all!  I’ve started pre-posting in preparation for my vacation so I’m hoping you get to see this!  I’ll still be around for this one to check to make sure it goes live okay!  For the next several posts, I’ll be either on my way to or on the high seas with several of my Brave Girl sisters.  I’ve completed all my DT projects for while I’m away and now have to write all the posts.  I’ll have a tutorial for McMahon Five Designs to share while I’m away as well!!!  Expect that for Thursday.

I’ll be making my posts this evening and then I have two days to decide on what I’m going to where and how to accessorize the outfits.  I plan to make a few new jewelry pieces to go along with the mix!  If I get time, I’ll put those on the blog for while I’m away as well.

Now, about my card for this weeks blog post on Paper Maniac Inspiration.  I love The Greeting Farm’s stamps!  They are so much fun to color with their cute oversized heads and hair!!!

I used some GCD Homespun Chic paper and a couple of pink and green Basic Grey buttons.  A simple card with a lot of punch, me thinks!

See ya’ next week!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Hi Y’all!!!

I don’t know why but I’m channeling my inner southerner today!!!  I used to live in Texas lifetimes ago so I guess that counts, huh?

I have got two things to tell you about tonight.

  1. First of all, Patti has taken the final markdowns in the Paper Maniac store at 50% off and this weekend you can get an extra 10% off with the code FINAL_PUSH.  Your final total must be at least $25.00 in merchandise but it can include some regular priced merchandise as well.  There’s still a lot of this and that here and there so go take a look!  Just click on the specials tab at the top of the screen.  She’s got some amazing new stuff in the store as well including some of the new Tim Holtz stamps!!!
  2. Do you remember when I talked about my art goals for the year 2011?  One of them is to take the She Art Workshop by Christy Tomlinson.  You only have until Sunday to register but there’s good news!  I wrote about Christy’s latest tutorial on the Charity Wings blog and she’s giving away a seat in her workshop.  Just head over to the Charity Wings blog and comment on the post for a chance to win!!!

That’s it.  I’m busy working on things for while I’m away.  I’m doing a tutorial for McMahon Five Designs using an image from next weeks release!!  Plus, there’s a new Hotspot challenge on the first.  That’s the new challenge blog from McMahon Five Designs and Studio 313

I’ve got two images ready to be made into cards for the Paper Maniac Inspiration blog while I’m away.  You’ll be seeing those on the next two Tuesdays!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Urban Flight

2-24 urban flightHi all!  I’m feeling a bit better today.  On Tuesday, I was so tired I could hardly even think!!!  I went to bed early and slept 12 hours!  Yay!!!

I have another project using some of my favorite GCD papers—Artsy Urban from the Paper Maniac store.  I used the Tim Holtz Sizzix Fanciful Flight die to layer up two of the patterns from this stack as well.  I added a sentiment from Unity Stamps June Store Kit.    I mounted the butterfly to a row of Webster’s Pages Bloomers.

That’s it for this week!  See ya’ soon!!!

Blessings,

Christine

On the Wings of Love

02-08 wings of love

Hi!  It’s my turn to post on the Paper Maniac Inspiration blog today.  I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Heart Wings die.  I colored the wings with Ranger Snow Cap Paint Dabber and I colored the crown using gold Alcohol Ink applied with an Alcohol Ink Applicator.  The bottom layer of the heart is colored with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.  I colored the top heart with craft paint and then applied Rock Candy Distress Stickles using my finger.  The beautiful paper is Basic Grey Curio.   As I most always do, I colored some Kaisercraft pearls with Copics.

I’m driving down to Utah today.  I have an appointment with my dermatologist to have a couple of things removed.  Since I’m on immunosuppressants he wants to do them a week apart so I’ll be gone for a while.  I’m taking my mom down with me so we’ll be having some fun mother and two daughters (missing one) time.  Mostly, we plan to create.  Of course, we’ll have to make some time to hit my favorite thrift stores plus, I really want to hit the Pepperidge Farm cookie store!

That’s all folks!  I’m off to bed so I can get up bright and early at 10:00 am!!!  Well early for me anyway!

Blessings,

Christine

Everything Matters

Good Evening!!!  I’m a little, or maybe a lot, late today with my post from the Paper Maniac Inspiration blog.  I always post on Tuesdays but I forgot to photo and prepare my post last night until 2:00 am (my normal bedtime).  Needless to say, I didn’t prepare my personal blog post at 2:30 this morning.  Every time I sat down to my computer today, I would think “I’ve got to get my PM post done.  I’ll do that next.” while I was blog hopping or catching up on Facebook or whatever else I get involved in on the computer.  And I just kept forgetting!

I do have a bit of an excuse however.  I was in more pain the normal today and took the big pain pills so my mind has kind of been wandering all day.  I have a call into the doc to see if I might need to change my meds up a bit which I think would help out.  Plus, it seems I’m a little more talkative (or writative as it were) on the meds as well!  Kind of a long post!

11-02-01 everything mattersAnyway, about my card!!!  Our theme this week is Webster’s Pages.  I didn’t have much in the way of Webster’s Pages and our February themes are all designer’s choice, so I went with the designer’s choice option with a little WB Bloomers thrown in for style.

I used GCD Studios Artsy Urban papers and Unity Stamps June store kit.  Both of these were designed by Melody Ross, my superstar!  I also added some Webster’s Pages Bloomers to the top of the card!  Aren’t Bloomers gorgeous.  I added another sentiment—Live a Good Life--from the set to the inside of the card.  The stamps are on the clearance racks in the Paper Maniac store!  The clearance is now down to 30% off!  Go take a look!

I colored the bird with my Copics and then stamped the sentiment with Palette Black and embossed it with iridescent embossing powder.  It kind of matches the sparkles on the floral DP.

A new Soul Restoration lesson started today.  I listened to the the videos (Melody does such an awesome job.  She’s is a beautiful person.) and reviewed the materials and I just can’t wait to do my lesson this week.  It is such a positive a beautiful message.  It puts me in a good mood just thinking about.

I hope you have as great a week as I plan to!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Lovely Thoughts

lovely thoughtsIt’s my turn to post on the Paper Maniac Inspirations blog. Our theme this week is vintage—my favorite style. I used two images and a sentiment from the fun Artistic Outpost Neverland set. I feel in love with this set and had to have it!!!

The paper is from the Kaisercraft English Rose pad. The lace is vintage from a RAK. I love using vintage items on my creations whenever I can. The pearls are Basic Grey and cardstock is Papertrey Ink.

Please check on the Paper Maniac Inspirations blog the rest of the week to see some more vintage creations.

The Soul Restoration class starts tomorrow, 1-11-11 at 11:11 pm. I’m so excited, kinda’ like the first day of school!!! I’m heading to be now (they are taking my internet down in two minutes). See you tomorrow!!!

Winter Birds

11-01-04 winter birds

It’s my day again to post for the Paper Maniac Inspiration blog and our theme this week is winter.

I used the Memory Box Mistletoe paper stack. Aren’t those little birdies so cute dressed up in their hats and coats. I inked it all up with lots of Distress Ink. I added some of the paper to a chipboard bird and applied Distress Ink all over it as well. I dyed some crinkly rayon seam binding with some of the same colors of Distress Ink that I used on the papers.

Now it’s way past time for me to go to bed. I’m scheduling this post for noon so you’ll probably be seeing it before I even get logged on to my computer. He-he!!!

Blessings,

Christine

I’ll be back later with the deets. Also, I received my order in the mail for my giveaway so I’ll put everything together and take a photo later so we can get this thing started. I hope you like it!!!

My Mind’s Journal

I have big plans for my new year, how ‘bout you?   And my new journal is a big start to that!

10-12-28 journal

For my Paper Maniac Inspirations blog project this week, I used paper from the Meadowlark collection from My Minds Eye.  I used the actual packaging for the stripes at the bottom of the page.  I also used some of the items on the accessory sheet to embellish and I added a journaling card that says yesterday, today, tomorrow.  Seems appropriate for a journal cover.  I wanted to keep things fairly flat since I’ll be carrying this around a lot.  On that note, I adhered everything with Mod Podge and added a coat of Podge over the top to make it sturdy to carry around.

The wooden letters are from a package I got at Wal-Mart that I painted pink and then stained with watercolor paints.  I added a vintage button to each side and wrapped with some elastic so I can toss it in my purse so it’s ready for any thought or note I’d like to jot down when I’m out and about!

My Mind’s Eye -12x12 Paper Kit - Dusk

I thought I’d show a picture so you could see how I used the packaging.  How’s that for being green!!!  A lot of collections have these example sheets so don’t throw that away.  Think of it as a little bonus!  Perfect for cards!!!

Storage Hint:  When I buy a collection of 12x12 papers, as soon as I take them out of the packaging, I put them into extra large 2 gallon zipper top bags.  They are the perfect size for 12x12 papers.  In my area, they are difficult to find but just keep on the lookout.  The packages that I get aren’t the name brand but Presto brand.  The only store I find them at here is Bi-Mart in a small town about 30 miles from here.  My sister and I take a day trip because the town has some great thrift and antique stores as well!!!

See you next year!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Believe in Christmas

It’s my turn on the Paper Maniac Inspirations blog today!believe in christmas I love collage type images because they lend so well to water coloring. It’s been a long time since I’ve used my watercolors and it was so much fun to break them out today!

The stamp is Memory Box Believe Poinsettia Collage and I used this beautiful Memory Box Mistletoe paper pack. There are some gorgeous papers in this collection, not to mention the design that has some cute little birdies and wrapped up in scarves and hats.

This week we are sharing our tips for Christmas décor.  Being “A Woman of a Certain Age,” I have collected a LOT of ornaments over the years.  Plus, I’ve been told (or maybe accused) that my home looks like a Macy’s store window.  I have really learned to pare down.  It’s more important to spend the time with your family than to have the perfectly decorated home!

This year, I’m only decorating my studio.  I spend 90% of my waking hours in my studio, and since few people come over, I’m decorating just for me this year!!!  The part where I’m NOT paring down however, is that I’m making ALL of my ornaments!!!  MAYBE I’ll get them all done by Christmas!!!

See ya’ next week!

Blessings,

Christine

My Favorite Things

grow your wings

The theme at the Paper Maniac Inspiration blog this week is “Favorite Things.”  We were to use three of our favorite products from the Paper Maniac store to use on our creation!

Since I’ve been shopping with Patti almost since they opened, this was easy.  My very favorite thing that Patti carries are my Copic markers.  I love them almost as much as Paper Maniac!!!  I buy the Copic Kit Club every month (I think it’s 14 months now) so I now have quite a selection and it was a lot easier on the budget than trying to buy them in sets.

My other favorite things are the beautiful stamp from the Unity June store kit and the stunning Crate Paper Restoration DP.  Plus, you all know that butterflies are one of my very favorite things?  Love them!

I have told you before, that I live in the “banana belt” of Idaho.  Our weather is usually warmer and dryer than the rest of the state.  If we get snow, it usually melts by mid afternoon.  That’s part of the reason I live here.

Well, we’ve had snow on the ground for over a week now!!!  Then it snowed on and off all afternoon with a 90% chance of precipitation through tomorrow and still a smaller chance of rain through the week.  IT DOESN’T SNOW HERE!!!  However, tomorrow is supposed to be in the high 30s so maybe some will melt.

Okay, now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, maybe I’ll feel better.  It has been a bad day here at the Fairy Studio (that’s what I’ve decided to call my studio—I have a few fairy dolls hanging to help keep my muse going).  They are working on the plumbing next door so I was without water ALL DAY.  They turned it on again and while it was on, I had a phone call that they are shutting it off in 1/2 hour until tomorrow when they get done fixing stuff over there.  Ugh!!!

For the next few days, I’m going to work on making ornaments for my Christmas tree that I can’t get out of my shed until the weather gets better.  (There I am complaining again—sorry).  I have a white feather tree and I’m making some vintage style ornaments to decorate it!  I can’t wait to show them to you as I create and to get my tree set up and decorated!!!

Maybe I can get out tomorrow to purchase some of the things I need.  I’m not going  out after dark because they are having slide-offs everywhere!!!

I’m breaking my mood now and I hope you have as good day!

Blessings,

Christine
