Happy Memorial Day

Photo at Merrill Park in Eagle, Idaho (photo credit)

The city of Eagle, Idaho near Boise installs 600 flags on Armed Forces day through Memorial Day to honor our Veterans.  Even though they’ve been doing it for several years, I just heard about it for the first time this year. I’ve been wanting to go but haven’t gotten a chance.  Hopefully, my sister and I are going this evening.  We drove by on Saturday and it is quite the sight.

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
-- Moina Michael

I purchased one of these poppies several years ago from a Vet outside Walmart. Now it hangs on my truck visor where I often look at it and remember all the Veterans and especially my own dad!

Happy Memorial Day!  May we all take a moment to remember the original reason for this holiday.

Blessings,

Christine

Rose of Sharon plus Awareness Freebie

I have to tell you I had one heck of a day yesterday.  I needed to go to the store and to get some money to pay a neighbor that mows my yard.  I grabbed my purse and picked up the dog (she leaves me little presents sometimes when I leave her home alone), locked the door and as soon as I closed it, realized I didn’t have my keys…or my cell phone!

My sis and my mom both have keys so I knocked on the neighbor’s door to call one of them.  I have used only a cell phone for almost 10 years now so I don’t know ANYONE’s phone numbers.  My mom and sis both now exclusively use cell phones so their numbers are unlisted.  I couldn’t remember what the name of my sis’ company was so after two wrong numbers, I reached her company.  Yay!!!  I had to wait until she got off work to let me in so I spent the afternoon visiting and watching Dr. Phil with the neighbor.  Not such a bad afternoon after all!!!  Except that I was late getting my card done!

5-26 rose of sharonToday I used the lovely Rose of Sharon (the file name is Petunia) image from the McMahon Vintage line.  Isn’t she so pretty!  Now on to the remaining images from this release.  It’s kind of a slow week.

Numbers ATC

Do you like Artist Trading Cards?  I love getting in on swaps for ATCs.  It’s so much fun to see how everyone interprets a certain theme.  If you would like to swap with me, the first four people to comment that they want to swap, well, let’s just do it!!!

numbers atcI made this ATC for a challenge.  Maybe I’ll give it away but probably not because I cheated a little.  Technically, ATCs should be able to be slipped into a baseball card holder.  With the large flower I attached to this one, it would never fit in a baseball card holder.

Most of the items I used on this ATC are Tim Holtz’s products—lots of Distress Ink, two Sizzix Tim Holtz dies, that little stick pen that attaches the ticket, a Tim Holtz stamp set and Distress Embossing powder.

That’s it for this week.  Don’t forget that theirs a big going out of business sale in the Paper Maniac store.  Everything is 30% off and they are flying off the shelves.  You better hurry and get yours today.

Blessings,

Christine

I have very sad news for you today.  Paper Maniac is closing it’s (virtual) doors.

While that’s sad enough news, we have good news for all of you.  Patti is having a going out of business sale!!!

closing sale

Just use the code GOODBYE to get 30% of your entire purchase.  How great is that!  Plus, new merchandise is still coming in!

I’m sorry I don’t have a project today.  I’ve been fighting a migraine for the last two days so I didn’t get a chance to work on it.

The Yellow Rose of Texas

Sorry for the late post.  I had my (kind of) semi-annual (a few months late) transplant check at the University of Utah today.  Everything turned out great!!!  I’m anemic but that’s something we can take care of with meds.  Another great visit!  I’m heading home tomorrow just in time to finish my mother’s present!

Since I was going to be out of town this week I used an older digi stamp from McMahon Five.

Yee Haw, Y’all!

yeehawGood Morning!  With summer close at hand (here in Idaho we haven’t even had a 70 degree day yet), it’s also rodeo season.  The first rodeo of the year in Idaho is this weekend in a little town called Riggins.  I haven’t been there since I was a kid but it always proves to be quite the party with cowboys sliding down the hill behind the rodeo grounds riding on coolers, usually fueled by beer!!!  I’m going to have to try to make it one year!!!  However, my feet will be planted on the ground.  It’s much safer that way!!!

Now about my card.  I used the fun Cosmo Cricket Wanted 6x6 pad.  I love everything by Cosmo Cricket!!!  Speaking of, I’m actually going to the Cosmo Cricket warehouse this afternoon and meeting Julie Comstock.  I commented on her Facebook page about the Circa fabric and she invited me to stop by.  How cool is that!!!  I ‘m visiting in Utah in a town near where their offices are.

We’ll that’s it for today!  See y’all next week!!!

Blessings,

Christine
