So Busy and So Tired

I have been missing for the last few days because I’m been very busy around the house.  I had a neighborhood garage sale this weekend and decided to participate.  So that mean very quickly going through all the boxes that I hadn’t unpacked in over five years.

First of all, it felt GREAT to rid my home and my mind of all that junk.  I worked most of the day Thursday and all day Friday (with the help of my mom and sister) to sort and price all the junk.  I was up at 7:15 am to set up for the sale and spent all day in the heat to make $30.  I wasn’t really in it to make money, it was more because I just wanted to get the junk out of the house!!!

So, at about 3:00, we loaded all the unsold junk into my truck to take to the thrift store tomorrow!  It’s all gone!!  But (and a huge but), my house is now a shambles.  And to make things worse, it’s going to have to stay that way for awhile because I will be going out of town on Wednesday.  My sisters and one of my nieces are going on vacation to California and I will be staying in Utah to dog sit.

I’m driving down on Wednesday and then on Thursday Rose and I are taking a drive in the mountains to see and photo the beautiful autumn colors.  I LOVE autumn in Utah.  On the way home that evening, we will be stopping at the Making Memories warehouse sale.  That promises to be great.  We will be there within a few hours of the start of the sale.  Making Memories is one of my favorite scrapbooking manufacturers.

Then the thing I’m looking forward to the most is getting a pedicure.  One of the things that they don’t allow transplants to do is go to nail salons and I really used to enjoy my twice yearly pedicures.  Rose has talked to her lady and she is going to sterilize everything before we arrive and then give us pedicures.  I just can’t wait!!!

On Saturday, I will have to get up in the wee hours to take them all to the airport.  There flight leaves at 7:30 am and the drive to the airport is over an hour.  Ugh!

I will be on my own the next week.  I’m bringing a few artsy things but I’m planning on mostly doing some crocheting for a Christmas present.  Hopefully, I will be able to get most of it done before I come back home!

On Oct. 13th and 14th I will have my annual transplant checkup--two VERY long days of doctors appointments and tests.  On the second day, Rose will need to come with me because they won’t let me drive for 48 hours after they do the heart catheter.  The hospital has been under construction for the last couple of years so I’m not even sure what it will look like when I get there!

Anyway, that’s my next couple of weeks in a nutshell.  I’ll be posting sporadically but I’ll still be around!  Then I can’t wait to get home and get ready for the holidays.  I love the fall and winter holidays.  First off, I’m going for my pumpkin, squash, gourd gathering trip and decorate my deck.  Then decorate my house with all my fun lovely fall decor.  I don’t do a ton but I like it to look fall-ish.

Okay, now that I’ve bored you to death, I’ll let you go.  Don’t forget that starting October 1st, you will have a chance, every time you comment, to win an awesome giveaway.  I’ll tell you all the details on October 1!

Blessings,

Christine

Halloween

I won the items for this next card in the Paper Maniac blog hop.  100_8112 As soon as I opened the package, I new what I was going to make.  I watercolored the house because I new that I could do a sunset with watercolors.  Wasn’t sure if I could with Copics.  I colored the beautifully dressed witch with Copics and then applied Distress Ink over her because she was too bright.  I distressed everything you see except the fence (which was cut with my Cricut).  100_8107 I wanted more color in the paper and I didn’t have any black lace, so there ya’ go.  Customized supplies!!!

And that’s it.  I’m off to the grocery store as soon as the news is over.  You may have noticed that I updated my weight loss tracker.  The first time around didn’t work out very well.  I lost about seven pounds before going to Brave Girls and then didn’t get back on it.  I’m starting over with Biggest Losers as they start the new season.  Hopefully, I will have lost my 33 pounds along with the hundreds that the lose.

I have been keeping up my walking since Brave Girls camp.  That’s two months.  Speaking of Brave Girls camp, I’ve signed up for camp next fall.  I would love it if some of you could come and join me!  Obviously, I loved my experience since I’m going again!!!

I hope you  all had a great weekend and have a good start to the week!

Blessings,

Christine

Wishes

Once again, I was able to play along with Linda’s Compendium of Curiosities Challenge.  While I was at the store the other day, I picked up a couple of Tim’s masks for the current challenge, Masks Basics but do you think I could find them when I was ready to make my tag. No-ooo!  But I used some butterfly stencils that I had instead.  wishes I am loving Linda’s challenge because I’m trying a lot of things that I wouldn’t normally do.  I decided to make a tag this time because I wasn’t really sure what I was doing so let’s just start small.

I started by sponging Victorian Velvet Distress Ink over a couple of butterfly stencils and then some Spun Sugar around the butterflies.  Then I inked Tumbled Glass on the surrounding areas with some more Victorian Velvet around the edges.  I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and then used Distress embossing powder.  Some of the embossing powder stuck to the butterflies and other surrounding ink that was still not quite dry, but it was a happy accident.  I really liked how it turned out.  I made a couple of rosettes out of wrinkly rayon seam binding with a MS butterfly and button.  For a complete “fly by the seat of my pants” creation, I really like how it turned out.  Isn’t it great when that happens!!!!

That’s all for now!  I hope your weekend is going well so far!

Blessings,

Christine

I’m a lucky girl…

in a lot of ways.  Today I want to talk about this:  I won the grand prize on the Paper Maniac blog hop.  100_8098All of this was in a box that arrived today from Patti.  Lots of paper, stamps, paint, dies, even that cute little Xyron.  I can only guess at the value. Now, time for a commercial break.  Paper ManiacI love to shop at Paper Maniac.  I place an order at least once month to get my Copic fix and many other goodies as well.  They have Copic kit club where they send you ten (I think) pens plus tutorials on a given subject.  They also send a link to a video tutorial.  How cool is that?

Plus, she stocks so many wonderful products and and many of them at a discount.  What can be better than that, you ask?  You get free shipping on your order over $75.00 and she sends the order out the very next day.  Her customer service is excellent.  Last month I accidently ordered the prior month Copic kit and she emailed me to check if I had made a mistake.  She already new that I had that kit!!!  Now, that is personalized service!

I hope your day is as good as mine!  Thanks for coming buy today!

Willow’s Book

I love this image—loved it the first time I saw it, ordered it and hadn’t used it since.  I worked on organizing stamps a bit yesterday and came across it and set it to the side so I could ink her up for my next card.  As of I’ve said a few times, and as you’ve probably noticed, my art has moved into a more vintage/shabby chic style but I still love some of my cute stamps.  Elizabeth Bell, Magnolias, Paper Makeup Stamps and The Greeting Farm.  I really have narrowed it down to those companies.  And, come to think of it, just about any of those images would work for a shabby chic card!

So, here’s my card for today.  willows book Pretty straight forward.  Same things I do with most cards, colored her with Copics, added pearls and flowers colored with the Copics to match.  I need to get a few more Copics in the kind of peach color family.  I only have one color so it’s hard to do much shading but I got it done!  willows book close up But this time, I did some paper piecing.  Where, you ask?  Her apron, I say!  I cut it out with the kinda’ solid Basic Grey paper.  After I put it on, I thought it needed some shading so I did some shading with C1.  It looked much better!!!

I had kind of a lazy weekend.  I haven’t been feeling very motivated but I did get a couple of artsy things going.  Including coloring this little girl last night.  Not very productive but a nice one anyway!!!

I hope you had a great Monday!!!  I have lots to do tomorrow and I’m getting up early to get started.  I’m going to run my errands and get my ABC book finished so that I can package it up and send it in the mail on Wednesday!  Phew!

Blessings,

Christine
