Owl Moon’s Maiden

Once again, I fell in love with a new image from McMahon Vintage and just couldn’t resist making a card with it.

owl moon She is called Owl Moon’s Maiden. Isn’t she just lovely! I let the image do all the work and made a very simple card using Basic Grey Kioshi DP and some beautiful Zva Crystals. This set is a long set with a lot of flourishes and I broke them up to use several times on different cards. Big money saver there!!!

How is your Halloween going so far? I hope you have a lot of kids tonight to get all your candy!!! *giggle*

Christine

Pink Halloween

Happy Pink Halloween!!!

For Pink Saturday today, I thought I’d share some pink puppies I found around the internet!

I have no clue what she is supposed to be, but she is adorable!

And I couldn’t resist a little butterfly…

…or a tu-tu!

And what about this little pirate!

I have such a soft spot for Schnauzers…and flowers!

And the little pom princess is the cutest of all!

Well, did you think I could leave the feline crew out?

Just a couple more!

I have no words.

And lastly, I’ll leave you with some beautiful pink Halloween treats!!!

If you would like to participate in Pink Saturday, go see Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. She’s definitely the hostess with the mostess.

Blessings,

Christine

A Vintage Ghost

When Sue from McMahon Five Designs first sent me this image, I immediately feel in love with it!  vintage ghost There is something about this lady that I instantly loved.  I colored her face and added a few more shadows to her costume then cut her out, tearing the bottom.  This is my favorite card in a long time and I can’t even tell you why.  LOVE it!!!  Okay, enough gushing about my own card!  I’ll just get this posted.  There are soooo many digital images being released today at McMahon Five Designs – some are from Shawne at Studio 313, some McMahon Vintage images as well as some from Jessica Original!  Let’s see if I can go find some!

Shouting from the Rooftops!!!

No, I’m not really on the roof but this is the best place for me to shout out—my neighbors would think I’m insane!

It’s now official, I’m going on the Brave Girls Alumni Cruise!!!  Making Brave Girl art on the open seas with a stop off at Nassau!  What could be better for a cold day in March!  Let’s just hope I can get a passport in time.  If not, all’s okay.  I’ll just stay on the ship and make more art!!!

Wings that Sing

Ever since I went to Brave Girls camp, I’ve had a spot in my heart for birds, much like how I love butterflies.  There is a lot of symbolism in birds and this sentiment is just one of the things I love about birds, especially song birds.sings with wings In case you can’t see it, it says “Be as a bird perched on a frail branch the she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, know she has wings.” – Victor Hugo

This is another of the Studio 313 images by Shawne that were released a couple of weeks ago. With everything else that’s been released at McMahon Five Designs and with my trip to Utah, I haven’t been able to make a card with it.  This one will be showing up again and again, I love it that much!  It’s such a good sentiment.

I used the Prima Fairy Flora paper (love this stuff) and some Zva crystals from the store!  You need to go check out all the things that Sue has in the store.  She has a ton of stuff on sale as well!!!

I mentioned that M5D is sponsoring the Sketches by Carly challenge.  What I didn’t realize at the time is that Carly is my M5D dt sister Kristine’s 12 year old daughter!!!  She draws up the sketches and her mother put’s them on the computer for her.  There aren’t very many entries yet so go check it out.  And I’ll give you a little hint.  Check out the M5D blog for a little surprise.

That’s it for today!  I hope your having a great week.  It’s cold, rainy and windy here.  That’s fall weather for sure but I hope it doesn’t freeze out the Boise State game tonight.  Have a great week!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Breast Cancer Awareness with McMahon Five Designs

Edited to add projects by my lovely design teammates!

Only at McMahon Five Designs

Our DT Sister, Bonnie has been feeling down since learning the news that her friend, Elise was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Many of us have followed Jacque's journey this year with Breast Cancer.

On my personal note, several years ago my mother fought her own battle with breast cancer and remains cancer free after all these years.  We are all affected by this disease in one form or another and we can all do one thing to protect ourselves. SELF EXAMS! It's quick and simple and can save your life.

The M5D girls rallied together this past week to not only cheer up our sweet Bonnie's spirits but to help bring Awareness to such an important issue that affects us all.
To put our efforts in action, we came up with the this
BUT
there is one stipulation before you download him.
You have to promise to perform a self exam!
It's on God's Honor System and we know you will
do this for Yourself ...and... your Family!
As an added BONUS, we also came up with a set of 7 Breast Cancer Awareness Images to buy!
100% of PROFITS will go to

Here is my card with an image from this set.

And for the blinkies that won't play nice with each other, we have this non-blinky badge. :)

Thanks for taking the time to read about this important cause.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could stomp out breast cancer in our children’s or grandchildren’s life times!

Have a great week.  There is so much going on here so I’ll be back very soon!!!

Quick Little Post...

...for Friday to let you know I'm still around. I seem to have some kind of flu thing that's been keeping me down a bit. I did get to my table and create a little today but I couldn't find my camera to take a picture. I'll find it tomorrow and share then. For now, just a little Halloween joke.

I know, kinda lame but kinda cute!!!

Talk to you tomorrow!!! It's Friday!

Something Pretty

I just realized that the first thing you see on my blog is the picture of my ugly hand with the blisters so I decided to post something pretty.

10-09-21a Here are some of the beautiful red roses from my garden.

Yesterday we had a great time in Logan with Trisha.  We went to the Utah State University Museum of Anthropology to watch a presentation about Paganism in Modern Society.  It was quite interesting.  I really didn’t know anything about Paganism and found everything so informative.  Then we went to the movie, Life as We Know It, and then went to dinner.  It was a fun movie and I really liked it but I wanted her to end up with the other guy.  I’m not going to say anymore incase you want to go see it! *giggle*

While we were out and about we saw that our favorite antique store in Logan was having a yard sale and I found a couple of funs things.  I can’t wait to share when I get home!!!

I’ll be heading for home tomorrow.  I haven’t felt very well this weekend so I will be happy to be home.

I hope you all had a good weekend as well!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Quick Update

I felt soooo much better when I woke up this morning--very little pain left.  I had to go pick up some prescriptions this afternoon so we decided to stop by Michael’s while we were out to see if we could find anything else for our pumpkins.  We wandered around the store for an hour and neither of us spent more than $10.

Anyway, while on the way to the pharmacy, my transplant coordinator (Leann) called and said that all my test came out perfect!!! Once again, no rejection and all other tests came out beautifully!!! Leann said that Rose and I should go celebrate. We're going to the museum, dinner and a movie tomorrow with Trisha!  Trisha has to work for a couple of hours early in the morning and then we’ll go have fun!

I mentioned yesterday that I had to have a couple of things froze of my hand.  While I was on the computer last night, I noticed that one of my blisters looked like Australia so I thought it would be fun to share!  100_8249 Kinda’ gross but kinda’ fun!!!  That blister has expanded to about twice it’s size now but it doesn’t hurt unless I bump it.  I’ll be kinda happy when it bursts and starts to heal.  Ya’ know it’s kind of hard to take a photo of your right hand.  I had to turn the camera sideways to get the right angle.  The bottom one looks kinda’ like a heart!

Have a great Saturday everyone!!!!  I need to have my pumpkin done tomorrow night for a contest so when we get home, that’s what I’ll be doing for the rest of the evening.  I think it’s going to look great!

Blessings,

Christine

It’s All Okay

My tests are all over and everything checked out okay which is very good news!!!  I won’t hear about the biopsy results until later this afternoon but I’m sure they will come out fine.  They always have.

It was kind of a rough two days though.  On the first day, I saw the dermatologist and he froze off two pre-cancers on my hands and then scraped and sent two skin cancers for biopsy—one on my forehead and one on my waist.  He’s pretty sure that they will be the good kind but they need to be biopsied.  That really caused a lot of discomfort on Wednesday night.

On Thursday I had a left and right heart catheter which means that I got stuck in my left groin and in my neck on the right side.  I was in a lot of pain last night but I am feeling so much better today.  Thank goodness.  I usually breeze through heart catheters but it was pretty rough yesterday.  But all is okay today!  Yay!!!

So that’s about it for today.  I just wanted to update you.  I’ll be working on my pink pumpkins today after I go pick up some prescriptions and one more supply that I need.  I can’t wait to finish them and show them off!!!

I hope you have a great weekend!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Numbers Tag

Just a quick post tonight for my project using the Compendium of Curiosities challenge and the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge.  Once again, I was able to combine these two wonderful challenges.  Thank goodness that the CCC challenge was for two weeks because I didn’t get a chance to work on it last week.  Plus, I had a heck of time with this technique and tag—it’s a triple try!!!

numbers tag I won’t get into details here and bore you but this is as much work as I have put into a simple little tag!  And to top it all off, I couldn’t get a good picture.  I only  brought a few supplies with me so I had to make do with what I had.  I went and raided my sis’ craft supplies to find the yarn to use in the tag!

I’m very sleepy tonight so I’m going to keep this short.  I’m getting up early to put some chicken soup on.  I’m going to make chicken and dumplings for dinner for when the girls get home tomorrow.  With it Columbus Day on Monday, everybody is still off work until Tuesday so no one will have to be rushing home!

I hope you all have a beautiful and peaceful Sunday!!!

Blessings,

Christine

All supplies are Tim Holtz stamps, Distress Inks, Fragments.

Oak Tree in Fall

First off, I have to apologize.  For some reason, I just haven’t felt like blogging.  I should have had this posted on Tuesday; it was ready.  But now, I’m here posting on Saturday.  Sorry to my M5D team.

autumn scene I couldn’t get a very good photo without my own setup.  This photo has the image very washed out while the embellishments are all perfect.  Oh well.  The image is the beautiful Oak Tree in Fall from Studio 313.  (All the Studio 313 images come in either jpg or png.)  I wish you could see it for all of it’s glory.

The paper is from the Basic Grey Kioshi pad.  What, you say?  I altered it with a bit of Distress Ink to darken it for the fall theme.  I used one of the beautiful Prima Swallowtail Butterfly Olivia from the McMahon Five Designs store.  The only embellishments I brought with me to Utah were the items from M5D so I had to get creative with this card.

After I dropped my sisters and niece off at the airport on Saturday, I stopped by the lss and got some flowers and buttons.  I chose the larger flower in green so that it would look like leaves.  When I was out in the backyard with Chloe on Sunday I noticed this viney looking thing growing on the fence that had ALL of the autumn colors so I picked some and brought it inside.  I heard that you can preserve flowers using Mod Podge—one of my favorite things.  So, I attached some of those on the card as well.

That’s about it.  Everybody will be home tomorrow and I’m glad.  Boredom has set in!!!  You want to know how much?  Yesterday, I painted a pumpkin pink!!!  Yes I did.  I took one of those craft foam pumpkins and painted it pink.  I have what I hope is a great idea for a home decor piece.  I won’t be able finish it until I get home so for now, I have a pink pumpkin.  It looks pretty strange.

Last night I was talking to Rose and I told her I’ve been spending time in the craft room but then had to  correct myself and say the kitchen.  I’ve used it a lot more for crafting than cooking. *giggle*  Sad but true!!!

I’m not sure what we have in store for the first of the week.  On Wednesday, I will have tests and Thursday, more tests, leading up to the doc appt where they will tell me everything is GREAT!!!  A long couple of days and Thursday starts with a heart cath so when the meds wear off at about 6:00 pm, I’m not a happy camper!  I want to be home and in the recliner!!!  But by Saturday, I’ll probably feel great!  I better because I plan to spend that day with my neice before I go home on Sunday or Monday.

I hope all of you have a great week!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY October 5, 2010

Outside my window...beautiful, sunny fall day.  I can finally say it’s a fall day!!!  Yay!!!
I am thinking...not much.
I am thankful for...my ability to visit my sister to help out when I can.
From the kitchen...don’t know.  I’m on a kind of vacation.
I am wearing...still in my pjs.  Hey, I didn’t get to sleep until 3:00 am.
I am creating...a new card from M5D and then I’m going to color some images I brought with me!  Plus, I’m going to start an afghan that I’m making for my nephew.
I am going...to find a fun activity for me today.  Maybe the bird refuge, maybe a drive in the mountains to see more fall leaves.  We’ll see!!!
I am reading...the same two books.  I haven’t been reading much lately. :-(
I am hoping...for my sisters and niece to have a good vacation.
I am hearing...my favorite show in Utah—Studio 5.
Around the house...it’s not my house, so not much.  I do need to do the dishes though.
One of my favorite things...cool and crisp fall days.
A few plans for the rest of the week:  some more vacation type things.  As many times as I’ve been to Utah, there are still a lot of things I haven’t seen.
Here is a picture for thought I am sharing.. 10-10-05a photo I took last week at Cascade Springs.

If you would like to take part each Tuesday, go to the Simple Woman’s Daybook blog and share your link.

Blessings,

Christine

More from Studio 313

No clever title today.  There just wasn’t one coming to me!!!  But I have to say, Shawne is clever with these fun images from Studio 313.  I have a few things to share today.

I love celebrating all the holidays of fall.  I’m not much of a scary Halloween gal but I do love the cute side.

group shotAnd Shawne’s Halloween images are soooo cute!!!!

boo First up, I made a little plaque to hang.  I colored the wooden plaque with Creative Inspirations paint.  I colored the sweet monster and ghosts with Copics then painted them with two coats of Mod Podge which makes the paper flexible and tear resistant.  After the Mod Podge was dry, I molded them into puffy shapes (they don’t show up well in the photo) and applied them and the “Boo!” onto the plaque to which I had already attached a border piece of Debbie Mumm paper.  (All of the projects use Debbie Mumm paper.)  I added some fun buttons—see the pumpkin I used for the dot on the exclamation point.  I strung and wound some wire around beads and I will be able to hang it from wire.

spooktacular Next up is a card made with Shawne’s “You’re Spook-tacular” image.  I used the my fun MS drippy border punch.  The little ghost is another fun button!!!

trick or treat Now, the cute little Molly with her sweet dog!  Isn’t she adorable in her little pumpkin costume!!!  Love it!!!  Even  more Halloween buttons!!!  I got these at Hobby Lobby a few years ago!!!

That’s it for tonight.  I’ll be making another card with the last Studio 313 image that I brought with me.  Sue sent me some more images Saturday morning but I don’t have a way to print them here.  I really want to make something with the cutie-patootie Fabulous and Feathered Lou!  This is the colored version.  It comes when you buy the digi as well as some fun sentiments.

Have you ever read the Stephanie Plum mystery novels by Janet Evanovich?  Doesn’t this image remind you of the lovely Lula in her books?  Cute and sassy!!!  I can’t wait to get my Copics on her!!!

Thanks for stopping buy.  Don’t forget about my comment to win giveaway!!!  I love to hear from you!!!

Blessings,

Christine
