Whiff of Joy Release

  Whiff of Joy is having a new release this weekend of Women’s Delight stamps.  I might get this one to use for my nieces shower invitations.

Each one is beautiful in it’s own way.  Their are some of brides and groom, a lovely wedding cake, Willow pregnant and Willow holding a baby.  They are all beautiful.  You can see them all on Katharina’s blog.  She also has a pre-release giveaway.

No Cards from Me Today

I didn’t get any cards completed today.  I am in the process of cutting out 600 flowers.  I actually only have 55 to go but I’m tired of babysitting my Cricut and my back is sore from sitting at my craft table.

These are for my nieces wedding invitations.  There are three flowers per invitation and two flowers per each flower (if that makes any since at all) to be layered with a pearl in the middle.   I sat at my craft table today coloring stamped images and pushing “repeat last” and “cut” on my Cricut a whole bunch of times.  Tomorrow I will be laying them all out in one layer and spraying them with yellow Moon Glitz.  I hope that I will also have time to layer them together with a pearl in the center tomorrow.  Then that will be all done when we have the Wedding Invitation Assembly Party Saturday.  The envelopes should be delivered by UPS tomorrow.  I sure hope so.  The paper is already here.  That’s the most important anyway,  It will be so great to get these all done and out in the mail.  First task down!

My second task is to make the invitations for the wedding shower.  I think I’ll have a lot of fun with this one.  I’m either going to buy the Wedding cartridge for the Cricut and design something there or I’m going to get a digi stamp with some wedding images.  I’m not sure what would be quicker, to color images or to cut and paste Cricut cuts.  I’ll probably only be doing about 20 shower invites so I’m not sure it matters much.  I’m going to look around for some digi stamps and see if I can find some details about the wedding cartridge and come up with some designs.  That’s probably a good idea before I go purchasing something, huh?

If anyone lives in Southern Idaho and would like to come and help at the Wedding Invitation Assembly Party (I’m calling it that so it sounds real official), please, feel free to come and help.  I’m sure my sister would feed you.  Maybe she’d even go to Iceberg and get some milkshakes!!!  Yummmmy!  (Hint: if one of you shows up then she’ll have to go get them since I said so here.  Then we will all get one!)

That’s it for now!  Hopefully, between cutting and spraying and drying, I’ll get a chance to put a card together to show you.  I did get one card done tonight but it was for a DT thingy.

2. If I were to call you, what would you say? I wouldn’t answer the phone because I wouldn’t recognize the phone number.  Sorry.  I’d call you back though if you left a message though.

3. What is your favorite type of leaf? Oak, because it’s so beautiful in the fall.

4. When was the last time you....
- had sex?  too long
- swam in a lake?  I have no idea;  I’ve swam in rivers but I think it was about 1987 at Bear Lake.

- ate peas? probably the day before I moved from my parents house when I was 17.  My Mom always made us eat at least one bite and I dislike peas even more than peppermint candy!  I don’t like carrots either so it’s good that they serve them together.  I even pick the peas out of fried rice at the Chinese restaurant.  Come to think of it, I bit into a pea the last time I had Chinese food (ooooohhh – ech!)

5. Since Father's Day is right around the corner, tell us about the person that you are celebrating.  I will be celebrating my father (who was an honest, hardworking and wonderful man) and my Grandpa ( who was the epitome of a Grandpa).

6. Were you dropped on your head as a child?  I don’t think so but it WOULD explain some things.

7. How often do you clean your toilet?  Do they need to be cleaned?  (hehe)

8. Have you ever been sunburned? Tell us about it.  Big time; many times!  All I can say is that I don’t do THAT anymore.

9. On average, how many hours a sleep do you get a night? I probably get 7.  I’m definitely and insomniac so some nights I sleep 10 sometimes 5.

10 How many hours did you get last night? 6; I was still awake at 6:00 am when the sun came up.

12. Are the bottom of your feet dirty?  No.

Flutter Bairy Wednesday

This post was revised to add Flutter By Wednesday information. Oops!

This is my card for Flutterby Wednesday. This little girl is a digi stamp called Butter Fairy from Soft Pencil. I was bored at the computer yesterday and went on a search for digital stamp images and I found her. She has a wonderful paisley type pattern on her wings. I can think of so many ways to color her, can’t you? I started out with a mod kind of sixties thing for the first time. You’ll be seeing her again.

If you want to play along, this weeks challenge is to use a sketch from another challenge. You also need to include a butterfly or fairy on your creation. This way you can do two challenges at once. Go over to each of the DT member’s blogs (links on my sidebar) and to Dani’s blog and see the some beautiful examples for inspiration; make your creation and go back to Dani’s blog to put a link to your card in Mr. Linky.

I was having a horrible time finding my crafty muse yesterday. She was out of town!!! I colored her and then started trying to make a card. I couldn’t come up with anything. I picked out some paper before I colored her and started cutting it up then didn’t like it. Picked out another one, didn’t like it. Picked out another one and just couldn’t make it work.

This evening I went back in the craft room and put it all together in a few minutes. I guess my muse came back!!!

I colored my Butter Fairy with prisma colors and used gamsol on the little girl only, not the wings. The paper is DCWV Glitter stack. I put the sentiment (S.E.I. stamp) on with temp adhesive because it needs something but I don’t know what sentiment I’ll want when I send her. Yes my cards are almost always girls and yes, I do name them. The names are usually the same as my post header.

I used the sketch from Our Creative Corner and the challenge at Spoon Full of Sugar is butterflies.

Thank You a Dot

Flourishes is having an Easy Breezy challenge to make a card in 10 minutes.  They like it when you can use Flourishes stamps on their challenges but I don’t have any that could be done easy breezy.

The DP is S.E.I.  I always hit their factory store when I’m in Logan, UT and found some great stuff on the last trip!

I haven’t had a great day today.  I’ve been hurting quite a bit the last couple of days but I don’t think that’s it.  My crafty muse has left me.  I’ve painted a few images but just can’t seem to get them into a card.  When I’m feeling down, I read my favorite uplifting quote.  Since I have nothing crafty to share with you, I’m leaving you with it.

Sally’s Ice Cream Cone

Do you remember the Dick and Jane books from back in the day?

 

 

 

 

This little girl reminds me of Sally, the little sister.  She’s actually a digi stamp from Squigglefly.  Have I said I’m in love with digi stamps!!! 

 

I colored her with prizmas and gamsol.  I don’t know who the DP is by; I picked it up from the bins at Joanns.  I loved this paper when I picked it up but hadn’t figured out something to make with it yet.  When I saw this little girl on the Squigglefly website I knew that she would go great with this paper.  It also reminds me of Dick and Jane.  The buttons are Basic Grey.

The sketch is from Inspirational Card Sketches and the challenge at Lili of the Valley is summer fun.

That’s about it for tonight.  I’ve got to get all my card making fun done tomorrow and maybe Monday because I will be getting prepared for the Wedding Invitation Assembly Party on Saturday.  I’ll be using my Cricut to cut out millions (600 but it feels like millions) of little flowers and spraying them with yellow glitter mist.  I’d like to get them all assembled in time for the partay on Saturday so we don’t have as much to do then.  The cardstock was delivered yesterday, my sister ordered the envelopes today, I need to go by and get some half pearls before Saturday, and most importantly, my niece and her fiancé need to approve of my design.  I want to get that done ASAP because I can’t start any of the other stuff till I get the A-Okay!

Well, I’m on my late night rambling thing again so I better just go to bed.  Nitey nite!

Great Friends

I found a new digital stamp company, Digiments and they are having a challenge contest.  Go to their blog and you can pick up this sentiment for free and make it into a card.  You can win their entire release next month.

Pretty easy card and not much to say about it.  The DP is K & Co and the ribbon and flower are from my stash.  I cut the frame out with the Cricut Storybook cartridge.

My Pink Garden on Saturday

Today I would like to share the pink from my garden.

 

The first pink that appeared in my garden was my beautiful bleeding heart that my Mother gave me the first spring after I bought my home.

 

 

And then last weekend the peonies were in full bloom. This is a fairly young plant so I only had about a half of a dozen blooms but the were beautiful.

 

Now and for the rest of the summer, these roses will climb up the lattice next to my deck. I planted them for privacy even though I new it would take a few years for them to climb all the way up the lattice.

 

 

 

I bought a pink rose, a yellow rose, and a white rose. I ended up with the above pink, a brighter pink and a yellow rose.

 

 

I think that next spring I’m going to move the bright pink one to a place all by itself and by another white one (I hope) to put in the middle. I should have taken a picture of the whole lattice but I can’t now because it’s dark outside.

 

 

This is the bunch that I picked to bring in the house. I weeded my front flower bed before going in the house and then my legs were so tired and sore I left them on the counter for a bit . . .

 

 

. . . and they got wilted but I think Tuxie liked them anyway!  Next time I’ll take a pitcher of water out with me.

Modern Ice Cream Shoppe

I must be getting bored with my diet because I seem to be making a lot of cards with ice cream and sweets on them lately. The image is from Modern Sugar Boulevard and I colored it with primas and gamsol. The DP is from the DCWV Sweets stack. I cut the hex out with a Spellbinder and chalked the edges. I chalked the edges of the DP as well. It’s hard to see in the photo but there is a small torn piece of pink dotted paper behind the hex.

The sketch is from Everybody Art. The challenge at Charisma Cardz is pink and brown and the challenge at Cute Card Thursday is die cuts.

That’s about it for tonight. Since it’s 3:00 am I guess I should go to bed. Nitey nite all!

Purple Pedicure

Can you believe this card fits two sketches?  Well it does!!!  Every once a while two challenges have similar sketches.This card follows the sketch at both the Stamps and Smiles challenge and the Digital Tuesday challenge.This card is also for the Dare U 2 Digi Stamp challenge (ribbon) and Cardalicious (at least two flowers with ribbon and the color blue – the blue is hard to see in the photo but there are blue flowers and stems on the DP and the image is matted in blue).

The image is Precious Spa from Modern Sugar Boulevard.  I colored her with Prismas and gamsol.  I’m not sure what I’ll be doing with this card so I will and the sentiment or some bling to the bottom later.

I decorated the inside with some scraps.  The DP is DCWV Pocketful of Posies.  I’ve got one more I did tonight and then I’m off to bed!

Operation Abort Error on Mr Blogger

I found this information on the First Level blog:

Update on Blogger issue with the Operation Abort error message - they have still not rectified the problem, but know now that it is due to the Followers entry in the sidebar. Their recommendations are to move it lower down your sidebar as close to the bottom as you can and if this does not work then remove for the time being. The problem is here that whilst this may work for you getting onto your own blog, every blog you go onto that has a Followers banner you will have the same problem until they amend their own page.

I’ve had a lot of problems getting onto my own blog and I don’t like the Firefox browser.  Since I did this to my blog, I have not had an error yet.

Did you know that their is a follower button at the top of each blog in the navigation bar.  If you want to follow a blog but can’t find the follow button, click on “follow” on the navigation bar at the top of the screen.

Flourish Stamp Candy Winner

When I was shopping at Joanns yesterday I found a clear stamp set with a bunch of flourishes on it so I bought it and we’ll pick from those.

I had five suggestions for places to look for flourish stamps.  I used random.org and it picked one of my fellow flutterbyers, Stef H (Glitterbabe).  I’ll be putting a couple of things together and get something in the mail to you!

My Favorite Gardener

My power went out just as I was finishing this card so I’m typing in the dark.  I’m sure glad I’m not a hunt and peck typist but I’m making quite a few mistakes anyway.  Thank goodness for Live Writer because I can type the post and then upload it when the power comes back on.  Hopefully soon!

 

Since one of my favorite things is gardening, when I got this stamp in the mail today I had to use it right away.  I made this card to send to a friend who also likes gardening and hasn’t been able to so I hope she likes it.

 

 

 

I also decorated the inside with the same papers and the seed packages again.  The power went off exactly at the same time as I was reaching for the camera to take pictures of my card.

 

The stamps are from My Favorite Things and I colored her with Prismas and gamsol.  The DP is the DCWV Green stack.

I used the sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches.  The Lili of the Valley and the Cafe Mojo challenge is summer fun (gardening is definitely one of the fun things I like to do in the summer) and the Double Dutch Dare challenge is to decorate the inside.

Now that I’ve said all that, I’m sitting here in the dark wondering what to do next!  I went to Joanns today and bought a pattern and fabric to make a dress for my niece’s wedding.  I wanted something in cotton that would be cool and comfortable and they didn’t have much.  However, I did find the perfect fabric but it was expensive.  It has embroidery on it so it was $12.99 a yard (the dollar sign was really hard to find in the dark hehe).  It was on sale for 50% off but I need over 5 yards.  Oh well, I really love it.

My puppy doesn’t have any problem seeing in the dark.  She’s chasing the cat around scaring me to death ‘cause I can’t see her.  We had a big thunderstorm today with a lot of power outages.  I guess that’s what is going on but the weather is great now!  I don’t know what could have happened.  I guess I’ll play a computer game for a while and if it doesn’t come back on, I’ll go to bed.  I’m having a hard time seeing the screen since my laptop is running on battery and it’s dark in the house.

I guess I’ve bored you enough with my bored ramblings.  It almost feels like I have company here in my dark home when I’m typing this.  I’ll try really hard not to edit this too much before I post it so you all can see what I’m like when I’m in the dark and bored. (I just fixed a few typos and I’m publishing my ramblings from last night – hehe.)

Sweet Peas

Sweet peas are another of my favorite flowers, along with roses, peonies, pansies, the list goes on and on!

I’ve had this stamp for a bit and was a little afraid of it but I inked it up today and painted it with my watercolors. The stamp is the Flourishes Sweet Pea set and I used it for their challenge of frame it. I used the sketch from Card Patterns. The DP is the DCWV Luxury stack.

My aunt from Missouri has been visiting in Idaho this past week. She brought a long her son and his family. He’s 38 years old and a Grandpa. My aunt said she doesn’t mind being a Great-Grandma but she doesn’t like that her son is a Grandpa.

Anyway, I had so much fun with them. They spent the day out sightseeing and then came back to my sister’s house for a BBQ. I don’t get to see them very often and it’s so great to have a visit. I forgot to bring my camera so I don’t have any photos. :- ( I just wanted to share because it was such a wonderful evening.

Wedding Invitation with Candy

I’ve talked a little bit about my niece's wedding and that I’m going to design the invitations.

This is my first prototype. The names have been changed to protect the not so innocent (hehe). Other than the flourish stamp, I really like how it turned out.

It’s a gate fold card. The closed size is 5x5. I didn’t get it folded perfectly but I plan to get a Scor-Pal before the assembling party!

She didn’t really want ribbon but I think this adds a lot. I wrapped 1/4” ribbon around it three times and tied it then put the flower on top. If she doesn’t like it, we don’t have to put it on.

I made the flowers with the flower1 and flower2 cut on the Cricut George cartridge. I curled them up with the end of a paint brush with the flower sitting on piece of foam. The top flower is sprayed with yellow glimmer mist and it’s topped of with a little pearl. I made a couple of different shades so my niece could pick whichever one she likes.

As you can see the flowers are both on the inside and on the belly band (or belt thingy as my niece said).

The flourish stamp is an S.E.I. stamp that I embossed with iridescent embossing power. She wanted clear embossing but I didn’t have any. I think she’ll like this better anyway. If not, I’ll get some clear.

Here comes the candy part of the challenge. I’m going to be cruising the online stamp stores to find a flourish stamp that would look better. I’m sure I don’t know about all of the online stamp stores so I NEED YOUR HELP, please. If you have the time, go to the online stores you know about to find a flourish stamp. I would like mirror image corner stamps. The width of the outside strips are 2-1/2 inches. If the flourish has a heart or a musical note, all the better. The person to find one that will work will receive a little gifty from me. I just came up with this idea so I have not idea what it will be but I promise, you will love it. I will also include some stamped images for you to play with.

I was so happy this went together as easily as it did. I thought I was going to have to make a couple of different ones.

As luck would have it, this invitation fits a couple of challenges. Allsorts is curly and/or swirly, Stamptacular Sunday is wedding, and Truly Scrumptious is more than one fold. Three challenges and I didn’t even try for one!

This is definitely one of my favorite stamps. I think she is just beautiful. Each time I color her, I want to do her in pink, maybe some purple. So each time I paint her, I try not to use pink or purple. I went way the other direction this time.

The image is "Lovely Fairy" from Auntie Amy's stamps and I colored her with watercolor paints. The DP is DCWV Pocket Full of Posies. I think I’ve really gotten into buttons lately. They are so much fun and there are so many bright and pretty colors.

I used the sketch from Sketch and Stash and the Cupcake Craft challenge is to use a fairly on your creation (easy peasy).

Beautiful Woman

I love to make vintage looking cards. They make me feel warm all over!!!

I colored the image with watercolor paints, the DP is K & Co and the ribbon was a rack. I used the Mojo Monday sketch and the 2 Red Bananas challenge is ribbon. I could use almost any card I make for the challenge.
