The Whole Famn Damily

This doesn’t happen very often, but we got a wonderful surprise this weekend!   100_5459 All of my brothers and sisters (plus mom) were in town at the same time!!!  Everyone lives here in the Boise area except the tallest and the shortest (the two corners) but it seems like they are seldom here at the same time.  100_5460We decided this deserved a little celebrating!!!

I hope you had just a nice of a weekend!

Blessings,

Christine

Thursday Thunks

rodin thinker

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the color of your keyboard and the number 4579.

100_0225

1. Who is the craziest person in your family?  Me, of course!!!

littlepinkturtle

2. If you could make turtle shells any color you wanted, what color would turtles be? Such easy questions – PINK!

 pancakes

3. How fast do hotcakes sell?  Fast if you stack them like this!  Yummy, now I’m going to need pancakes for breakfast!!!

nick_nolte_mug_shot_dui  4. Can cannibals be arrested for being under the influence of alcohol if they have eaten someone who was drunk?  First, gross!!!  Then, probably—depends on how drunk the guy was!

back-seat-drivers-license-comic-funny-43909 5. If I had my legs amputated, would I have to change my height and weight on my driver's license?  Again, gross!   And again, probably.

heaven-or-hell-request-31000

6. Where do people in Hell tell other people to go?  Heaven.

100_0399a 7. Do you make stupid little baby noises when talking to your pets?  Of course!!!  This is my baby when she was little!   Well, she’s still little but you know what I mean.  This was taken the day I brought her home!

8. Is the light on in the room?  Yes.

9. Did the voice tell you that the light is on in the room?  What voice, I didn’t hear voice, I never hear voices.  Ya, that’s right.

pink-lady-_b 10. If you were to name an alcoholic drink, what would it be called?  Pink lady is already taken so I just don’t know.  Actually, I don’t even know what’s in a pink lady!

For those who want to know, it’s a gin, applejack, lemon juice, grenadine, cream, and egg white (according to About.com) and of course the marschino cherry!  It was one of the first "girly drinks" and a favorite of the high society ladies of the 30's.

That’s it for this week’s Thursday Thunks!  You can play too!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Butterfly Dreams

It’s Flutter By Wednesday today!  Yay, I love Wednesdays!!!

I didn’t use one of my stamps that the guy in the Big Brown Truck left.  I just couldn’t get the inspiration with that one.  But I used another one I love.  butterfly dreams Plus, I got to play with my Copics again!  I really love how this turned out however it really looks even better IRL.  Oh, the sentiment is from my new set!

I wish I would have colored the flowers a different color but I still have a limited number of colors.  With the Copics Club at Paper Maniac, I am accumulating shades of each color but still have limited colors.  I can’t wait to see what the come up with for March’s set.  Me thinks green, huh?

That’s about it for tonight except to say that the challenge is open this week and, of course, to use a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation.  If you'd like to play along, go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then go to the Flutter By Wednesday challenge blog to link up your card.  While you’re there, be sure to check out the lovely GDT creations.

Are you tired of looking at Valentine’s yet?  Hopefully I’ll get my background and header changed by tomorrow!

Blessings,

Christine

Tea Party Picnic

teaparty picnic

I seem to be missing the motivation to create lately and I just couldn’t get a handle on the reason why.  I was going through some stamps that hadn’t yet been mounted and saw this cute little Dolly and stamped her a couple times and begain to paing one of them.  I finally figured out what was wrong.  I hadn’t stamped just for the inspiration of it for a long time!!!

It’s been kind of cold around here the last few days and this sweet card really cheered me up!!!  I got some new Papertrey fun from the Brown Truck today so I’m off to play with some of those for my FBW card!  Please come back to see it tomorrow!!!

Haven’t the Olympics been great!.  I think the free skate in ice dancing is my fave Olympic event.  It’s so entertaining.  Now the women skating.  Yay!!!  Plus on Thursday, fellow Idahoan (he’s even from Boise) Jared “Speedy” Petersen does the freestyle and he is favored for the gold.  We had a gold medalist cycler in the summer Olympics so it would be great to also have a winter gold medal from Boise!!!

I’ve got a lot of things coming up here on my blogo and I’m trying to get a bit ahead of myself so I don’t get overwhelmed.  That can happen so easy!!!  Plus, if I would get back organizing my creative space, I might get more done!!!

One more quick post!  I’ve been trying to get to bed a little earlier lately so, I’ll make this short!  Like 12:30 is early!!!aqua fairy I made this card based on the Curious Case at the Greeting Farm.  This is one of the beautiful seasonal fairies!  This is Autumn but I didn’t color her like Autumn at all!  She’s a lot more summery!!!

I used Twinkling H2Os on her and added some glitter glue to her wings.  I wish I’d have gotten a picture of her where you could have seen all the sparkle!

Fantabulous News!

Are you a fan of the Cricut machine?FantabulousCricutAd001 Then you’ll want too know about the new Cricut challenge on the block!  The Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.

Plus, I have even more fantabulous news!  Robin has asked me to be on the design team.  Yay me!!!  Plus, she is looking for a few good gals (guys to if you want)!  Check out the FCCB Design team call!!!

I’ve been having some computer issues today.  My cat was sitting on my laptop yesterday while I was on my creative table.  Somehow, he changed the orientation on my screen so that I had to turn my computer on it’s side in order to read things.  I’ve spent the day on and off (while doing some creating) trying to fix it.  I finally figured out what it was but now don’t have any idea.  I was just looking at everything related to “display” until I figured out that it had been rotated 270 degrees.  The reason I don’t remember the fix?  Because that wasn’t really the issue.  The issue was that I left my laptop out so the cat could sit on it!!!

I’ll be back in a bit with a new creation!!!

Blessings,

Christine

So How ‘Bout Shawn White!

Image: Shaun WhiteThere are so many time that I’m proud to be an American and one of the best times is during the Olympics!  What a day we had topped of with Shawn White’s victory run when he did the Double McTwist!!!  He’s an amazing athlete.  And it doesn’t hurt that he’s so cute!

Congratulations to Lindsey Vonn as well!  She did an amazing job winning a gold medal when she was in pain every second of her run!

And we can’t Shani Davis’ gold in speed skating.

The USA had a good day at the Olympics!!!

I go to the neurologist tomorrow to get a treatment to help my migraines.  I’m hoping that it helps!

A Fairy with a Heart

10-02-17 Today, at Flutterby Wednesday, we have a sponsor – Susana’s Custom Art and Card Designs.  I’m not sure of the prize but you’ll definitely want to play along.  Susan is going to be releasing some new Elisabeth Bell stamps soon so you’ll want to go check it out on the store blog.   While you’re there, be sure to check into the chance to win a whole bunch of Elisabeth Bell stamps!

10-02-17 close up I thought it would be appropriate to use an image that I purchased from SCACD.  Isn’t this little fairy adorable.  She is the sweet Groovy Fairy from Fairie Song Art Stamps.

So, since Susana’s tag line is “Follow Your Heart in Art and Life” our challenge this week is to use hearts somewhere on your creation (their are hearts on my paper) and, of course, to use a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation.  In order to be in on a chance to win the prize for this challenge, you must have your creation linked before Monday, Feb. 22 at midnight.  The winner will be announced with the next challenge on Wednesday.

If you'd like to play along, go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then go to the Flutter By Wednesday challenge blog to link up your card.  While you’re there, be sure to check out the lovely GDT creations.

Mrs. Charming and Rose

First of all, I want to apologize for not visiting you lovely ladies blogs lately.  I have been waking up with a migraine each morning for the last couple of weeks and it hurts to spend much time on the computer.  However, it’s very relaxing to sit with a brush in my hand coloring one of these fun images.  This morning the headache was pretty bad but after I took a nap this afternoon I felt a little better and was able to finish my card!

Yesterday, Phindy’s Place held a contest to name her latest digi stamp.  Are you familiar with her Mrs. Comfy character?  The image was of her having coffee with a friend after a day of shopping.  It reminded me of my sisters and I so I submitted the name “Rose”.  It was a random drawing and she picked mine!  So I got this cute image for free!!!  Mrs. Charming and Rose Today, they were having a cardathon on Papercraft Planet so it gave me the perfect opportunity to play with my new image.

When the cardathon started, they had us cut several pieces of cardstock/DP at various precise measurements.  I hadn’t painted my image yet but cut and did my layout then finished my coloring.  The one I originally cut didn’t look very good with this image so I did another one.  I think these papers are perfect and really highlight the cute image.  I wish I new where Mrs. Comfy got her jacket.  A pink faux fur jacket -- way too cute!!!

That’s it for tonight.  I finished my Squigglefly card for Monday’s challenge so come by to see the cute new image.  It was just released today and I tell you, it is so adorable.  Squigglefly sure has some talented stamp artists.

Picnic Daisies

2nd card for tonight!

Please scroll down to see a beautiful Squigglefly image!!!

I’ve been trying to play along with all the Papertrey Ink contests this week for all of their announcements and the February new release.  picnic daisies I made tonight’s  card for the Card Positioning System sketch the PTI is sponsoring. Everything you see is from PTI with the exception  of the American crafts ribbon.

How’d you like the Opening Ceremonies?  They were beautiful weren’t they.  The only time I cried was when the Americans walked into the stadium.  It’ll be interesting to see the metal to tear ratio once the Olympics are over!!!

Christine

Squigglefly Cherub Heart

Somehow, I couldn’t get inspiration using this lovely Cherub Heart by Chesney Youngcherub heart Holly sent it to me a few weeks ago but inspiration was not forthcoming!  I really wanted to share her with you in time for you to get this image for Valentine inspiration but I just couldn’t come up with anything.  I pulled out this cute little Cherub Basic Grey paper and things just started coming together!  Finally!  I think it was because I started to thinking of it as a wedding card instead of a Valentine card.  I really don’t celebrate Valentine’s much and I think that was my block!!!

Anyway,  I think the little cherub turned out pretty cute!

Have you been watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony tonight?  I’m an Olympic-aholic!  I just can’t get enough of all the competition, the podium ceremonies, the tears--especially my tears!  It’s good that the Olympics happen every other year.  I’d run out of tears if it happened every year!

The “ceremony” part of the ceremonies is just coming on, so I gotta’ go!!!  I’ll be watching and crafting and crafting and watching for the next couple of weeks!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Gone Fishing at Squigglefly

First, I have to say that my niece married a great guy.  You may remember that she was just married in August.  If you were reading my blog around that time, you couldn’t have helped but know.  Anyway, Chris came by tonight and made a Valentine for Alicia.  What a guy!!!  She picked a good one!

lazy days This isn’t the card he made for Alicia! *giggle*  This is a beautiful new image that is going to be released on Saturday at Squigglefly!  It’s drawn by the ever so talented Teresa Ward.  Isn’t this image perfect for a Father’s Day card. Well, not my dad, he’s more of a cowboy but you know what I mean!

Speaking of Squigglefly.  We are going to start releasing new images twice a month now instead of each Saturday.  Don’t worry, we won’t be releasing less, just less often!

That’s about it for tonight!

Blessings,

Christine

Butterfly Tree

It’s Wednesday so that means it’s another Flutter By Wednesday challenge.

butterfly tree This weeks challenge is love.  Do you see anything to do with love on my card?  No?  That’s because I forgot and thought it was an open challenge again this week.  Oops!

Guess what I did this week?  I used my Copics to color today’s creation!  Yay me!  And thanks to Steph for telling me about the eraser/clear thingy.  I still try to stay in the lines but when I miss a bit, oh well.  I can just fix it!!!  That’s one reason I love water coloring so much.  You can just use water to fix most problems!

As I already said, the challenge this week at Flutter By Wednesday is love.  Interpet that as you wish just be sure to include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your project.

Sweet and Simple

Papertrey Ink is taking the guess work out of card making.

sweet n simple For their contest today, Nichole asked us to do a paint by number of sorts.  She gave us this simple sketch to correspond with colors that were assigned by you first initial.  Kind of fun and really easy but I did end up cutting the yellow paper twice. I took the liberty to add a button to the center of my bow!

My last card of the Flourishes Anniversary challenges!

Out_for_Publication_Badge

This challenges is to use a frame.  Done!  I like how it turned out except one thing.  This is digi word art from Words Imagined.  It’s a beautiful sentiment (Hope shines brightest after darkest days) except it didn’t really work for the shabby look I was going for.  Maybe if I’d printed it in another color but I don’t know how to do that yet.  Anyway, there is a shadow effect under word “darkest” but with all the softness on the card, it just looks like a smudge.  Oh well.

That’s about it!  I have a couple more things to do and then I’m going to do some of the Squigglefly images I’ve received but haven’t had a chance to make into a project.  I want you to be able to see the wonderful images by Squigglefly’s artists.

That’s it for now!

Michelle Perkett’s Lovely Fairies

love letter blinkie I found Michelle Perkett while I was blog hopping one day.  I’m not sure where I first saw one of her beautiful fairies, but I was immediately smitten.

Michelles Love Letter1 Can you see why?  She gave us each this image to play with.  What I didn’t remember is that she also gave us a challenge to use red, pink and gold.

Michelles Love LetterDo you see any red or gold?  Oh well!  I have a short memory.  I should have written it down!

If you came here from Sarah's blog, you’re on the right track.  If not, you can start at Michelle’s blog.

I’ve purchased a number of Michelle’s fairies but haven’t had much time to play with them.  When Michelle said she was having a blog hop, I definitely wanted to do it and show everyone else her beautiful images.  You must go check them out.  RUN, don’t walk to Michelle's Etsy shop and see what I mean.  While you’re at it, check out her blog!!!  She doesn’t only draw fairies, but mermaids, fairytale characters and other beautiful women!!!

Michelle asked us to write a love letter to someone we love.  I kept thinking about who I would right my letter to and decided to write to my grandpa.  He was the first love of my life.

Dear Grandpa;

I have loved you since I was born.  Since my own father passed away when I was so young, you are the man of my first memories.  I tell everyone who cares, and many who don’t, that you were the epitome of a grandpa.  You loved your grandchildren so much and loved to tease them just as much.

Living on a farm gave you plenty of chances for stories and teasing.  Like when you told me that the cow with a shortened tail had that short tail because she was wagging it in your face so you bit it off!!!

Do you remember when you attempted to teach me to drive?  I was about 12 and you pulled the seat of the pickup as far forward as it would go and told me to let off the brake gently and move towards the bale of hay that you were sitting on.  When I headed straight towards said bale, you leapt out of the way!  That was the fastest I had ever seen you  move!!!

I so loved the summers when I could spend weeks with you on the farm.  Especially when you would let us ride to town on the milk run.  You would give us a dime and we’d get a pop and a bag of penny candy!  Those were the days!  Especially the day you said to wait by the road and you drove by just waiving.  I was so happy when you turned back!

I will always love red trucks with candy in the glove box. (I even have a red truck now.)  And I will always love the smell of wintergreen and cigarette smoke.  I know that it sounds icky, but it reminds me of you!!!

I miss you so much!!!

Now, go to Ileana’s blog for the next stop.

Blessings,

Christine

Sunny Buttons for Papertrey Ink

Have you heard of all the happenings over at Papertrey Ink. Nichol has been announcing all kinds of things on her blog this week. There are a lot of things happening over there so you might want to go check it out.

sunshine and buttons Last night, she challenged us to use the emboss resist technique to make a card. I used Lemon Tart Hybrid ink to add some sunnyness behind the flowers. I know, sunneyness isn’t really a word but I think it’s descriptive.

I love the design of Papertrey Stamps. I made this clean and simple card today and earlier this week I made a shabby-chic card using the same set, Blooming Button Bits.

Everything you see is Papertrey Ink except the pearls (which I colored with Copics) and the little butterfly (MS).

That’s it. I’m going to see if I can’t get something more created tonight!

Christine

Two for Tea at Just Buggin’

As they say, better late than never.  Does that work even if your REALLY late?

23 heart teapot I made this Valentine card for this week’s challenge at Just Buggin’ which is “love ya’.”  Just don’t forget that you need to include at least one cut from your Cricut.  Every cut you see is from the George cartridge.  I used Design Studio to get the dimensions that I wanted.  Of course the pot’s belly and the lid are hearts, the base is a triangle, the handle is a D and the spout is a J.  I made one like this last year and hand drew and cut the handle and spout.  This time, I wanted to try to use my Cricut for everything.

If you'd like to play along, go to the Just Buggin’ challenge blog to get some inspiration, make something and then link it up on the JB blog!

I added some Basic Grey pearl swirls and regular pearls colored with a Copic, as well as the embossed sentiment from Hero Arts!

I’ll be back with something else I’ve been working on today!!!

Christine

Feeling Peachy for a Birthday

peachy birthday (2)Did you get the hint from earlier today when I said that the new Squigglefly image was “peachy”.

peachy birthday This peachy image was drawn by Lynne Stansbery and will be released on Saturday.  I added the sentiment in Word and printed them together.  Don’t you just love digis?  I know I do!!!

I’ve been making these easel cards now when I’m making a square card.  I really love how the recipient can display the card!!!  This one will probably go to one of my mother’s friends.  Do you like it mom?

Now, I have two projects for Just Buggin’ to get done.  One is for this weeks challenge and I will post it right away.  The other is for next weeks challenge that is a secret (shhh) for now!

Tilda’s Bicycle

I’m very well known as a night owl.  I definately get a late start to the day.  I was finishing up my Tilda card until 2:00 am and went to sleep about 5:00.  Yesterday my niece posted on facebook how sunny and blinding it was (maybe she was making a groundhogs day reference).  I commented on how the sun can hurt your eyes when you go out first thing in the morning.  My sister posted, “What first thing in the morning?”  I had to concede that it was first thing in my “day.”

tildas bicycleAnyway, I took photos of my card first thing of my day and did my computer work (e-mails, blog hopping, etc.) and now I’m posting at almost 4:00 in the afternoon.  That’s how my day goes.

tildas bicycle (3)Have you ever heard of “Dolly Parton Hearts”.  I learned how to do them in a tole painting class and now I always use them when painting small hearts.   You can see the tiny example over the flowers.  I used Diamond Stickles for my hearts.

Here’s how to make them.  Just squeeze two drops of Stickles side by side where they are almost touching.  Then touch in the middle of the two dots and squeezing the bottle gently to let out just a little paint and pull down slightly to make the hearts tail.  Practice it; they’re really fun and easy.  When done with paint, use the end of your brush, a toothpick or a q-tip to make the dots and then load your brush with paint and pull the heart’s tail down.  Easy peasy!!!

tildas bicycle (2)This is one of the new Tildas that arrived while I was gone.  I will list the challenges, as well as the products used below.

Now I need to go do some more unpacking and organizing so I can get even more done.  My goal today is to find room for and unpack my Cricut and my printer.  I have Squigglefly and Just Buggin’ projects that need to be done.  Lot’s of Squigglefly images that I haven’t had the time to print and color.  I’m excited to share them with you.  The latest one is just “peachy”. ;-)

Blessings,

Christine

Shabby Buttons

shabby buttons I know I’ve said this before, but I think this is my favorite card yet!!! I love the Shabby Chic look and I think I nailed it on this one! However, I wish I hadn’t frayed the ends of the ribbon. I thought it looked ok but when I see the photo, I don’t like it. I’m going to give them a little trim! This is a new CB folder that I got while I was in Utah. I {love} it!!! It has hearts combined with flowers and in the flowers. So fun!!!

I was pretty sore today after all the moving yesterday so my creative space looks just like it did last night. I made this card and I painted a new Tilda stamp that came while I was away. So I had ordered some things so they would get here about the same time as I got home but when I didn’t get home as expected, they were waiting for me!!! How fun is that? Christmas all over again!!!

I might get the Tilda done before I go to bed. If so I’ll post it.

Blessings,

Christine

We’re Not Laughing at You, We’re Laughing with You

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Kimber, the color of doom, and the number 999.

1. You walk into a room, someone turns and looks at you and laughs. What do you do?  I’d like to say I’d just start laughing as well, but I think I’d start turning red and wonder what is wrong.

dinosauregg431x300 2. You find an egg, take it home and keep it warm. It hatches. What type of dinosaur is it? Do you keep it and name?  I thought dinosaurs went extinct years ago!

3. Which superhero would you want to be related to and why?  The classic, Superman!

hai_karate 4. A drunken sailor comes up to you on the pier...he begins harassing you in a most repulsive way....what'll be your defense?  Hai Karate!

Oscars_Oakland_CA_Piano_Bar 5. Entering a CLASS A piano bar, you're encouraged to sing atop the grand instrument...you grab the microphone and sing.....
I’d sing “Hey Good Lookin’”.  It’s the only song I can sing worth a darn!

6. If you were a character in a Dr. Seuss book/movie, who would you be and why?  The little guy in green eggs and ham because I want to know what they taste like!

peterson 7. If you have just been called to be a substitute in the Winter Olympics for your country (apparently everyone else was busy), what sport(s) will you compete in?  I’d substitute for fellow Boisean, Jeret “Speedy” Peterson in Freestyle Ski Jumping.  I LOVE him!!!  On second thought, he should do it so he can win that gold medal!!!

8. Did the audience from the piano bar in question #5 applaud when you were done with your song?  Of course!!!

Questions 4 & 5 were contributed by Hootin' Anni. Thanks Anni!

It’s good to be back!

Blessings,

Christine
