Three, three, three cards in one!

PMS x 3 I made these three cards for the Paper Makeup Stamps design team call.  I just love their sweet fairies!

music for the soul Since we have several musicians as friends and in the family, I could give this card to just about anyone. I’ve mentioned before that I belong to the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers.  We really enjoy going out to play for community events and at care/retirement centers.  They all really seem to enjoy the break in their routines and to come and share some music with us.  Sadly, I haven’t been participating much this year.

Ally with Copics Isn’t Ally just adorable.  I can just see her having a summer tea party out in her yard!  I found another trick to make some crinkly ribbon.  I saw this on the Tattered Angels blog.

They used nylon ribbon.  It looked like organza which is what I used.  All you do is use your heat gun to slightly melt the ribbon.  It only takes a second to melt to the correct point so be careful.  I actually melted a few holes in my ribbon but thought it lent a little more to the shabby look and that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!!!

I added a little porcelain rose to my button on the bow.  It was sitting on my desk and it matched everything so perfectly that I couldn’t resist!

Penelope in watercolor I wanted to watercolor an image as well so painted up Penelope.  She is one of my favorite PMS fairies.  For some reason I couldn’t get a very good photo of her.  The colors are kind of washed out on the image.  I distressed all the edges of the DP to make it look kinda’ grungy.  I love that look!

I haven’t mentioned that my sister, Alice, had foot surgery on Thursday.  Yesterday, Alice, my mother and I went to the cemeteries to lay flowers on our families graves.  It was quite humorous how my mother was carrying the buckets of flowers and water and Alice and I were just being lazy and not helping her.  I was holding Alice’s hand to help stabilize her and at the same time, nursing my sore rib.  My mom said she had wished that she would have brought her camera.  I told Alice that I would catch her if she feel but she said “NO” cause then I would hurt myself even worse!  What a sweetie.

I haven’t worked on my Digital Two for Tuesday project lately and I need to finish it up before I can work on  anything else!!!  They are due to Cora by June 6.  I can’t wait to be able to show it to you.  I’m excited to see what the other designers have chosen to do with these beautiful images.

I do have a few things already done that I haven’t photoed yet so I’ll get to that post when I want a break.  And you never know, I might even have some Squigglefly sneaks come my way!!!

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day and I believe it is a holiday in the UK as well.  Have a good one everybody!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Sew T!m

3rd Post for Today!

After my stamping party, I was so inspired to make some other fun vintagey projects! sew timSo, I pulled out one of my favorite stamp and got busy with t!m—Tim Holtz that is. If you’ve never been to his blog, he signs his blog posts “t!m.”  Of course, the stamp is TH and I used tons of distress inks on this project!

Have you noticed an abundance of sewing stamps lately.  I’ve had this one for about a year now but, wow, they’re everywhere now.  I love the dress forms, sewing machines, pin cushions, etc., so I’ll definitely be having some sewing related projects for you soon!

I have been having such a strange day.  I just cannot seem to stay on task.  I was ready to post this card hours ago but kept getting distracted.  Plus, my computer is giving me fits! Grrrr!!!

I promised to show you another cute image by Squigglefly’s new artist, Mark Hicks.  This will be available tomorrow.bubble bath Isn’t she just adorable!!!  My sister came over the other day to get a card for a little girl in her Sunday School class of three year olds (she was turning 4) and I didn’t really have much for her to choose from so I was happy to see this cute little girl!  I need to restock my cards with some girl and boy images.  I have even less little boy cards.

Come back later, okay.  I’ve just been creating and creating so I have lots to share!!!

Cody’s Papa Ron

Hello my peeps!  I wanted to get this posted really quick to let you all know that their is going to be another Squigglefly release this weekend.  cody's papa ron When I first saw this image it just brought a smile to my face.  My great nephew walks around with anything he can find that looks like a cell phone and talks into it “Papa Ron, Papa Ron.”  It is so much fun to watch.  Papa Ron is my brother!

We have a new artist again this week, Mark Hicks.  I received two of his images and they are adorable!!!  I’ll have another one later in the day.  I have it all colored and just need to put it together.

I’m hoping to get my car into the shop tomorrow.  I was going to go yesterday but when I fell I hurt way to bad to sit around a shop for the afternoon.  Speaking of that, I feel quite a lot better today.  As long as I wear a sports bra my ribs don’t hurt too bad.  There are some other aches and bruises but I’m sure I’ll heal fine.  Thanks so much for all the well wishes.

Have a great Friday.  To my U.S. friends, I hope you have some fun planned for Memorial Day weekend.  I don’t really have anything planned.  In our neck of the woods, the town pretty much dies on summer holiday weekends.  Everyone heads for the mountains and some camping.  I’m hoping to get up their for awhile sometime this summer!!!

Christine

Got Steampunk?

I’ve never tried my hand at the art form called Steampunk but while Lynn was here on Sunday she told us about a contest going on right now at Oxford Impressions using Steampunk images so I thought I would give it a try.  Here is the result!  100_6311 I kinda’ like it!!  My mom came over this afternoon for some cards and she even liked it!  It really isn’t even her style.

The way I see it (and I’m definately not an expert) is that steampunk art is a combination of images from the industrial revolution, especially images of steam engines, other images from that era and pieces of hardware.

Hardware is kind of where I had a problem since I don’t have that kind of stuff around.  So I went for a hunt around my house.  First of all, I had the little bright gold colored frame (from Joanns) so I sponged it with some Stazon ink.  Then I went on a hunt through my tool box.  I found a nut and a washer and sponged them with Stazon as well.  I saw a tiny black rubberband on my craft desk so I added it since it looks kinda’ link a rubber washer.  Then I took apart an old watch and added the crystal on top of the “S” on steam engines.

All images are from Oxford Impressions except the black top hat (Graphics Fairy freebie) and the sentiment which is computer generated.

That’s it.  My little doggie ran of this morning and while chasing her down, I fell down.  I’m okay but I think I might have bruised a rib or something.  It’s really quite sore when I move around.  So, I’m just sitting here.  I get up every once in awhile and color a bit on the stuff that I’m working on for Digital Two for Tuesday.  I can’t wait for you all to see this great project!

Have a great evening!

Blessings,

Christine

My Last Flutterby

2nd Post for Today.

Please scroll down read about my Stampin’ Goodtime Party.

Some of you may know, Danni decided to restructure the Flutterby Wednesday challenge and had a design team call within the current design team. She felt there were too many members on the team and she wanted to scale back. Well, I wasn’t chosen to continue on when the FBW challenge resumes in July. That’s right, they are taking the month of June off from the challenges. I’m kinda’ sad to leave but as one of my favorite quotes says, “If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies.” -Author Unknown

Wow, I should have added that quote to my card. Maybe I will!

10-05-26

This weeks challenge is open so all you have to do is include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation. Be sure to head over to the FBW challenge blog and have a look at what the other DT have made. You won’t want to miss them because they are always beautiful creations.

Now, a personal note to my fellow DT, those who are staying and those who are leaving, I have really enjoyed being on this DT and seeing your beautiful work each week. I will miss you all but let’s not be strangers. And Danni, thanks for believing that I was ready to be on a design team and having faith that I could do it.

Now before I start crying, that’s it for now. I’ll be back in a bit with pictures and stuff from my stamping party on Sunday!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Some Goodtime Stampin' Fun!

On Sunday, I had a couple of blog friends, that I had never met before, to my house for a fun stamping party! Lynn n Linda

This is Lynn and Linda! Sorry the photo is a little bit blurry. They both make beautiful artwork in the vintagey/collagey style. You’ll have to give them a visit. We made this little spindle project to hold ATCs. (Linda is channeling Vana White,) These spools come with ribbon on them from Prima and they are the perfect size for a mini album or an ATC holder. Lynn's gift They each brought a very nice gift. Lynn brought these adorable mussie tussies for each of us. She stuffed them with vintage wedding dress lace. I put in these dried flowers that I had and hung it on the wall. When my Love in the Mist bloom this summer, I’ll pick some, dry them and make a nice arrangement in here. Linda's gift Linda brought these fun cigar boxes for us to alter. I can’t wait to start on that!!! You can see the spindle I made and the Artist Trading Cards that Lynn and Linda brought. This is my first time trading ATCs. there ATCsHere is a close up of there ATCs. Linda made a different one for each of us! my ATCs And here are the ATCs I made for them. Now that I have a great place to keep my ATCs, does anyone want to make a trade? If you do, just leave me a comment and we’ll be in touch!

We had so much fun and I learned so much from these very talented women. We plan to get together again every month!

We each brought some stamps so that we could have some new images to work with. My next post will be a project that I made using a bunch of the stamps I borrowed from Lynn!

Have a great Wednesday!

Buttons and Ruffles

Third Post for Today.  Please scroll down for more!!!

I have wanted to participate in Moxie Fab World’s Tuesday Trigger for some time but I just never seem to get to it until this week, the last week of Tuesday Trigger as we know it.  Cath said they will be making changes to Tuesday Trigger.  Here is the inspiration photoThis Week\…and here is my take on it.  buttons and rufflesLot’s of Papertrey Ink on this one.  I kinda like how it turned out.  How ‘bout you?

I actually saw a set of dishes just like the inspiration at a thrift store in Brigham City, Utah and I didn’t get them.  I kick myself in the butt every time I think of it!

That’s it for today.  I’m going to work on my post about my stamping party now.  You’ll be able to see it tomorrow!!!

I Love Paris

2nd Post for Today!

Please scroll down for the Squigglefly Challenge.

Well, I’ve never really been there but that’s the challenge this week at the City Crafter challenge.  I Love ParisLots of Distress Ink and chipboard here!!! Sorry, I don’t know where these images came from.  When I first started blogging, I didn’t keep track of where I got my vintage images.

This is a new challenge to me.  I can’t remember how I found it but I’m glad I did.  I love this challenge.

Remember a few weeks ago that I was talking about how I wanted to concentrate more on the types of creations that I really like to do.  Well, this is part of it.  I love the shabby chic style!  Melissa Phillips is my goddess!

I’m having so much fun creating today.  I think the ladies left their muses here for me to use for a little while because I just keep sitting at my desk!  So Fun!!!

Squigglefly Challenge

I cannot believe that I’ve forgotten again!  What you ask?  Well my Squigglefly challenge card!!!  I’m going to add that to my Window’s Calendar right now.10-05-24 Our challenge this week is to make a get well card.  We all need those every once in a while, right?  I used the beautiful Victorian Lamp image and the sentiment says “May each day bring you renewed strength and brighter times” and is computer generated.  I thought that was appropriate for the lamp.

The colors are a little brighter irl but hey, what can a girl do?

Check back later.  I have a lot of things in the works today and I want to tell you all about our day of stamping yesterday!

Victorian Flower Girl

I think I’ve mentioned before that my favorite images are floral/garden and vintage, and when I find a floral image with a vintage flair, I’m hooked.100_6152 I’m not going to mention how long I’ve had this stamp before I used it, but I have now!!!

I used the crinkly ribbon again but this time I dyed it with watercolor paint.  I like it better when it’s dyed with Glimmer mist but since I have limited colors, I do what I have to do.  I also watercolored the beautiful blooms from Wild Orchid Crafts

It’s a migraine day again but I’m just trying to work through it.  I had fun coloring the other day and have two more cards to put together.  They both feature the same stamp.  I can’t wait to see what I come up with for those two.

That’s it for today!  Don’t forget that there is a challenge up at the Squigglefly challenge blog and they also have some brand new images in the store!!!  Then on Wednesday, it’s another Flutterby Wednesday project.  It’s an easy challenge, for me at least, and I’m getting started on that next!!!  Coloring an image always helps me with my migraines!

It’s another Flutterby Wednesday!!!  Yay!  10-05-12 Our challenge this week is set by our DT member, Kimberly, and it is to use paper piecing on your project.  I seldom do this and don’t know why.  It really adds to the project when you repeat some DP in your image.

Of course, you must also use a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation, as well as the paper piecing.  So, if you want to play along, go check out the Flutterby Wednesday Challenge blog and then visit the other DT by clicking on there links in the side bar.

I’ve really been busy today.  I made three cards.  One that I shared earlier, this one and another one featuring a new Squigglefly image I’ll share with you later.

Tomorrow I’m going to start on a project for Digital Two for Tuesday.  There’s a really great feature coming up that I’m helping out on.  I’m so excited about it.  It’s kind of a continuation of a  project I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.  I can’t wait to share it with you!!!

Squigglefly Challenge

With all the Mothers’ Day hype yesterday, I totally forgot to post my Squigglefly challenge card.  100_6123 I made a wedding card using papers and lace from my niece's wedding scrapbook that I still need to complete!  I used a new image that is going to be released on Saturday.  With Holly’s help, I turned the image blue to match my blue and gray papers.  Just to show how versatile the images are, I stamped a Papertrey Ink sentiment over this wonderful journaling image.

That’s it for now.  I’ll come back with the deets later!

Fantabulous Cricut

FantabulousCricutAd001 I’m very sad to tell you that I resigned from the Fantabulous Cricut design team.  It was very difficult for me to come up with a design each week with the Cricut has the focal point of the project so I decided to step down and relieve that part of the stress in my life.

However, I don’t want you to miss the Fantabulous blog crawl that is happening this week.  Everyone on the team has made something highlighting a specific task using the Cricut.  I haven’t checked it out yet but I’m sure they are all fantastic.  There are contests and prizes so you will want to check it all out!!!

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

What a beautiful Mothers’ Day we had here in Idaho!!! Spring has finally sprung. The weather was warm and sunny which we haven’t had yet this year.

We had a yummy ham dinner at my sister’s house. I didn’t bring my camera so I can’t share any pictures. But I did take one picture before I left of this…

100_6116_opt

Strawberry Shortcake Trifle. This was my contribution for our dinner. It was as good as it looks—very rich and creamy. Do you want the recipe? It is such a great thing to bring to gatherings because it looks so impressive but is quite easy to make.

Choose a type of cake and fruit(s) you would like. This one is angel food cake with strawberries. For this one, I also added a layer of Danish Desert. For my niece’s wedding shower, I used tropical fruits—bananas, kiwis, pineapple and strawberries.

Pudding:
8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
4 cups heavy whipping cream
2 4 oz pigs white chocolate instant pudding mix

I use a Kitchen Aid mixer for this recipe. If you don’t have one you will wish you did (*giggle*).

Whip cream cheese until softened and fluffy. Add about 1 cup of the whipping cream to help soften the cream cheese. After that is nice and fluffy, add the remaining whipping cream and the pudding mix. Continue to whip it for several minutes (my mom thought I had turned it to butter) until the consistence of pudding or mousse. Stop half way through and scrape the sides and bottom of the mixer with a spatula. (I think this is one of the yummiest things I have ever eaten!)

If you are using a regular cake, cut into cubes. With the angel food cake, I just tore the cake into pieces. Place a layer of cake in the bottom of a clear glass bowl. Top with a layer of the fruit you have chosen. (I added the Danish Dessert after this layer.) Now add ½ of the pudding and then repeat the layers. Garnish with a little fruit so everybody knows what’s inside!!!

Now that I’ve made you all hungry, I’ll let you go let you get a snack!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Mom’s Sweet Peas

My mother takes the majority of the cards that I make and gives them to her friends. So, when I thought about making my mom a Mothers’ Day card, it was so difficult to decide what to make. I wanted a to use a floral or gardening image so I chose these beautiful sweet peas by Flourishes.

moms sweet peas

I had a lovely time painting them. That’s why I bought this set probably about a year ago. They are so great for water coloring. There is another smaller bunch of sweet peas in this set. I used those with Versa Mark ink to create the pink blush Papertrey Ink background paper. However, it doesn’t really show up in the photo. I love how this turned out. I sure hope my mom does as well.

I’m scheduling this post for after we will be having dinner tomorrow so that my mom doesn’t sneak a peek before I give it to here.

I hope you all had a great Mothers’ Day!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Here Comes the Muffin Man!

That’s right, I did some baking.  100_6098 Well, kind of.  I made a muffin mix so I could show of this fun new image from Squigglefly.  Don't run over there and try to get it because it won’t be released until next Saturday, the 15th.  These cute label images were designed by a brand new stamp designer for Squigglefly -- Michelle Bertuzzi.  Aren’t they fabulous!!!  The labels, not the muffins.  The muffins are just ok.  At least this project got me in the kitchen!!!  Maybe they’d be better if I frosted them with chocolate icing!!!

I’m working on two other cards using some of her new images.  One of them will be my card for the Squigglefly challenge on Monday!  The other one I’ll have up soon.  I need to finish my Moms’ Day card and my challenge card before I make that one.  It’s the perfect image for a Fathers’ Day card.

And if that isn’t enough, I have two other images that will be released next Saturday.  I can’t wait to show all of them to you.

Blessings,

Christine

Crinkly Bows

I’ve had this stamp laying around for awhile and haven’t gotten around to using it.  I don’t even remember where I got it and, of course, it’s not marked.  100_6083 But I love how it turned out!  It reminds me of an old greeting postcard.  See the crinkly ribbon?  100_6087 I purchased a roll of rayon seam binding from an Etsy store called Zipperstop in an off white color.  I’ve been toying around with ways to color it.  This time I used Glimmer Mist.  I laid it out on my desktop and started spraying.  Then I gathered it all up in my hand and wiped up the GM that was left on the desk. The color was very splotchy but I like it that way. Then I made a really tight ball, squeezing it tight.  I un-crumpled it and hung it to dry.  It only took about 15 minutes to dry.  Isn’t this great!!

There are tons of Etsy stores that sell this ribbon already hand died or smaller packages of the ribbon in the various colors.  (It comes in a million colors.)  The roll I got contains 100 yards of ribbon and sells for $7.95.  The store I checked with hand died ribbon was $5.00 for 4 yards.  I think I’ll be making my own colors!!!  What a steal!  I’m glad that my Mother taught me to be frugal!

That’s it for tonight.  I don’t know if I’ll get anything posted tomorrow.  I have errands to run tomorrow and I will be working on my Mothers’ Day card which I won’t show until after I give it to her.

On Saturday, I’d like to get out in the yard.  Spring has not yet made it to my neck of the woods but I want everything to be ready for when I can plant my garden!  I think I’ll be able to plant some seeds here and there this weekend as well.

See ya’ later alligator!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Thursday Thunks

It’s been a long time since I participated in Thursday Thunks.  I really missed it!

rodin thinker

The TT questions are brought to you by Kimber, the color of Wednesday's eyes and the number 5.

1. Have you ever performed the Heimlich Maneuver on someone or had it performed on you? No, that would be very scary either way!

2. Do you have a red room in your home? (Either painted red or red curtains etc.)  No, I’m not much of a red type of gal.

3. Have you ever felt like banging your head against the wall?  So many times.  I’ve even done it a few times.  Ummmm, maybe that’s my problem!

4. Reports came out this week that Michael Jackson was gay. Are you shocked, don't believe it, don't care or felt he was all along? I pretty much felt he was all along but I really don’t care.

5. What's the dumbest thing you have done after a breakup with a S/O?  Drunk dialing—need I say more!  But in my defense, he got together with an old girlfriend who did the same thing so I think it was fair!!!

6. If Berleen and Bud are standing on the roof of a one story building and decide to throw water balloons at Kimber walking down below on the sidewalk, what color balloon hits her first? Green!  Kinda like green M&Ms.

7. What are the wildest, craziest pajamas you own?  I don’t have wild pajamas.  I have some with donuts on them.  Does that count?  Small print—these are not the actual pjs.

8. Have you ever ridden in a sidecar on a motorcycle? No, I’ve never even known anyone that has one.

9. Do/did you go party on Cinco De Mayo, and if so what color was the bartender's shirt?  Didn’t go then I’d be drunk blogging!

10. Why does a hat have a bill?  Duh, so it can quack!

11. If you were a WWE professional wrestler, what would your stage name be?  I thought and thought, answered all my quests and thought and thought, got my pictures and thought and thought and I just can’t come up with anything.

12. How many keys do you have on your key ring? Seven.

13. What is the oldest picture you currently have in your home? What year was it taken and who/what is the photo of?  Great, great grandma/grandpas—even maybe another great and I have no idea when they were taken.

Thanks for stopping by my Thursday Thunks!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Hydrangea and Butterflies

Although this card has a butterfly on it, it’s not my Flutterby Wednesday challenge.

Please scroll down for that one!!!

I’m back again with another card!  I made this a couple of days ago but didn’t want to post it until I got my camera back.  plum beautiful butterfliesThis is one of my favorite stamps and I love creating with it!  I love flowers and I love butterflies—nuff said!!!  I stamped and colored the bottom corner twice so I could pop the butterfly up.

Not much else to say today.  That’s weird, huh?  Now, I’m off to work on some other stuff.  Don’t know what yet.  I’m just going to let the stamps inspire me!!!

Blessings,

Christine
