3. If you could live on any planet other than earth, which one would you choose and why?  Pluto, I like their dog!

 

 

4. We're going to spend the night at a reportedly haunted location, are you going with us? If so, which reportedly haunted place are we going?  This could be kind of creepy but once I lived in a house that was haunted.  A lot of strange things went on in that house.  One night I was asleep in my room on the 2nd floor and someone was running up the stairs really, really fast which woke me up.  No one was there.  Another guy who had lived in the same bedroom said that every night he would lay his glasses, opened, on the beside table.  Every morning when he woke up, his glasses were folded and placed neatly on the bedside table.  Weird!

5. Did you play The Queen's Meme this week? If so, was it fair of The Queen to put Berleen in the dungeon by association with Kimber? (We all know Kimber deserved it, but Berleen?!)  No, she left a message on my blog last week but I forgot!

6. What color is the towel(s) hanging in your bathroom?  What da’ ya’ think?  Pink.

7. Tell us something funny that happened to you recently.  My life is funny!

 

8. We just bought you a cow. Do you kill it & grill it, feed it & milk it, or sell it?  All of the above.  There’s not room in my freezer for the whole thing!

 

 

9. It's 115 degrees outside (46 degrees Celsius), are you able to go without Air Conditioning? NO!!!  This photo was taken by a soldier in Kuwait.  He said, “it’s a dry heat though.”

10. When you visit the zoo do you wonder which animal tastes better with a bit of butter & spices?  No.

11. Dog ate your homework/work papers. Does it crap out Shakespeare, quantum physics, or just crap?  Just crap.

 

 

12. We are taking you to a Broadway show, what are we going to see?  Wicked

 

 

 

13. Gunshots in your neighborhood. Pop, pop, pop. Do you go out to take a look, or hide? I sit in my house and pretend that it was … um … a car backfiring or … um … fireworks.  Ya, that’s it!

Chirping Flutterby Purse

Can you believe that I was able to combine two DT projects into one? Well I did! This little purse is for Flutterby Wednesday and for the Chirper Challenge.

The Chirper Challenge this week is to make something that contains movement using your Cricut.

The Flutterby Wednesday challenge is a color challenge, pink and brown, along with a butterfly or fairy.

I used the purse cut from the Bags, Tags, Boxes and More cartridge and the butterfly cut from the Storybook cartridge. The little purse has magnets on it to hold it closed. The dp is from the DCWV Old World stack. I got the trim in JoAnn’s fabric department. It was VERY expensive but it was so perfect for this paper! I used the beads and a sequin from the length I cut for the handle to adorn the butterfly. Isn’t she beautiful! I should have taken the photo in front of the butterfly bush instead of the rose bush, huh? She probably would have been happier there. One of my lucky blogger friends is going to receive this cute little purse full of buttons.

Jim's Heart Update

Jim was compatible with the donor's heart and had a successful transplant after 8 hours of surgery. He still has a long recovery before him and will likely be in the hospital for 2 weeks. After that he will go to his home in Utah for the next six months for recovery and cardiac rehab.

Thanks so much for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.

Jim’s New Heart!!!

This is a very important and special post. Please read. However, this is my second post today.

While I was writing the previous post, I received an email from the wife of my friend, Jim, who is waiting for a heart. I’ve talked about him a few times on my blog and he wrote this post.

Anyway, they have found a new heart for him. Of course, there are circumstances in which he might not be able to get it. That is why I’m writing this post!

Please keep Jim in your prayers. He is scheduled to have his transplant surgery early this (Sunday) morning. He needs this heart so bad. He has been in the hospital for 15 days and will probably not get out until he recieves a new heart.

Alicia’s Wedding Shower

What a great day!!! When I woke up at 10:00 am this morning (I usually get up between noon and 2:00 so that’s early for me), I had a few things around the house to wrap up and then cooking. Well, and get myself ready. I forgot to take any picts of the prep. Sorry but I think we have enough to share anyway.

As everyone came in, I gave them each their very own engagement ring!

We had so much fun!!! For the food, we started with veggies with ranch dip (from my Mom), humus, artichoke dip, crackers and toasted pita triangles. We then played a couple of games. Then I passed a bunch of candles around for them to guess the scents while I got the food ready. We had yummy green salad (from my sis-i-l), fruit salad and watermelon (from my sis) and chicken salad on croissants. A little later, I served a trifle with strawberries and kiwi with the most delicious pudding I have ever tasted. Tomorrow I’ll post the recipe.

Then we dressed the bride! There were three teams:

One for the veil. Here’s my niece Katrina and my sis-i-l Gayle. Katrina’s Mother was on the team too but she somehow stayed out of all the picts!

One for the bouquet: Here’s Alicia’s friend, Katie and me. My Mother was on this team too but she also did a great job of hiding! I was hiding my face because It was hot out and my hair and all of my makeup had melted!

One for the dress. Here is Alice (my sis and Mother of the bride), Scott (Katrina’s son) – I don’t think he was much help – and a family friend, Merlene.

Do you see Chloe in the corner. She attended the party too!

I decided to let the groom, Chris, stay since he drove Katie and Alicia to the shower. He also got some bling and some flowers (clover from my lawn) for his hair. What a sport! He took most of the pictures as well!

I’m off to have some leftovers and go to bed! It’s Cody’s 1st birthday party tomorrow and we’ll be leaving at 11:00 am. I don’t usually even get up that early! he-he

Okay, everyone that didn’t make it can now be jealous!!!

Rough Day

It’s been kind of a rough day.  I got a lot accomplished today but it wasn’t without cost to the body. 

First of all, I went outside in my bare feet (which I do every morning) to let the dog out.  I was moving the hose around so I could do some watering and stepped on a wasp.  It hurt so bad for about 30 minutes and then it calmed down. 

When my big toe (that’s where I got stung) started feeling a little better, I called my Mother because she was coming over to help out with a few things.  (I know this is backwards; daughters help Mothers but not in my case,  I wish I could.)  She came over and started in the kitchen and I was moving some of the storage things we had moved all around the house when we moved the craft room.  I stubbed my toe.  Now, I have a bit of neuropathy in my feet so stubbing my toe is really, really, really, (did I say really) painful.  The thing that helps is to scream OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, OUCH several times at the top of my lungs.  My Mother also has neuropathy so she understood totally when I started screaming.  (She yells ouch, ouch, ouch too.)  After about 10 minutes it settles down quite a bit but still hurts for several days.

So now, both of my big toes hurt like H E double hockey sticks.  (I’m try to keep this rated G.) Mom got the kitchen cleaned, I got the living room cleaned and organized and she vacuumed (vacuuming is really hard for me).  Then we went outside and did some planting and weeding.  Tomorrow I will put the finishing touches on the living room and do a little more in the kitchen, clean the bathroom, spray off the deck and my house will be ready for the bridal shower.  Yay!!!

Then all I have to do is make chicken salad, dessert (I think I’m going to make a trifle) and a drink.  On Saturday I’ll get the yard ready and do a little decorating and everything will be ready for the shower.  Yay!!!

Once again, if anyone can help me come up with some ideas for bridal shower games, let me know! 

Okay, that’s it for today.  I’ll keep you posted on the shower preps.  I know  you want to know (he-he)!!!  It really think it helps me to talk to all of you about it.  Relieves my stress a little.

Talk to you again tomorrow.  I need to make a retirement card for my Mom to give to someone so hopefully I’ll have a card tomorrow.

3. Peanut Butter - creamy or crunchy?  Creamy and only Skippy.  That reminds me I haven’t had a peanut butter sandwich for a long time.   Yummy!

 

4. Get up off your butt. Take 5 steps. Which leg did you start out on?  Right.  Where do you come up with these questions?

 

5. What color is your favorite kitchen utensil?  Gold with a silver meal handle.  It’s a silicone spatula.  Great for scrambled eggs and almost everything else.

 

 

6. Did you watch the Michael Jackson memorial/funeral?  No but I did watch it on the news and 20/20.

 

 

7. Do you know anyone who graduated from high school this year?  No.  There’s no one else for a looong time.  We’re kind of in between generations right now.  Were you invited to their graduation party?  N/A Did you go? N/A

 

8. White with black stripes or black with white stripes?  Black with white stripes then it won’t show the dirt.

 

 

9. If we were to call your 6th grade teacher, what would they say about you?  Quite and shy.  I know, I know; no one would believe that now!

10. Can you draw a perfect circle?  I can’t draw anything!  That’s why I like stamping.

 

 

11. What was your favorite scratch & sniff sticker scent?  Martini.

 

 

 

12. What does your sibling do for a living?  A medical transcriptionist, a quality control manager, a medical coder, a deputy sheriff and a builder.  And I’m the bum.

13. How many light switches and electrical outlets are in the room that you are in right now? 1 switch and 4 outlets. 

14. Do you know sign language?  I know I love you, thank you, hungry and a couple of others that I would know if I saw them.  My niece has taught her children basic sign language before they could talk.

15. Do you step on cracks in the sidewalk? Every one that I can and my Mother has never broken her back.  Ah-oh, maybe that’s why my oldest sister broke her back.  Oops!

16. And the sheets on your bed look like....?  Tan with cat hair!  My cat loves to sleep by my pillow!  All day!  I’m washing them tomorrow; I really am!

17. What is something that everyone else has, but you don't.  I have everything I need . . except Copic markers, and a big screen television, and a blue ray player and, and, and!

Bridal Shower Games

Have I mentioned that I’m hosting a bridal shower? Oh ya, several times. OK, it’s kind of consuming my thoughts lately.

My sister, Rose, that lives in Utah, fell down in her driveway on Saturday. Her arm was hurting pretty bad so she went to the emergency room. She broke it just below her elbow. When she called to tell me about it, she said her other arm was hurting pretty bad too. I had a very similar break once and had also sprained my other wrist so I didn’t think much about the pain in the other arm.

On Monday evening, I got a telephone call from her husband. Dell doesn’t call very often so I thought it was kind of weird. We chatted for a minute and then he asked me if I wanted to talk to my sister. She told me she had also broken the other arm!!! (I hope you feel better soon sis.) She has braces on both arms and is unable to dial the phone.

What does this have to do with a wedding shower? My sister was splitting responsibilities with me. I’m not complaining, mind you. She was going to do decorations (I just won’t have much in the way of decorating), games and dessert. I’ve got the desert covered.

So here is what I need from all my blogger friends.

Does anyone know of some great bridal shower games? I haven’t been to a bridal shower in years so I’m hoping my friends can give me some ideas. My niece pointed me to a website so I’ll be taking a look at that but there’s is nothing better than first hand experience.

And now, please go give my sis some love here.

Modern Sugar Boulevard Release

I promised a full peak of the new Modern Sugar Boulevard card.  Isn’t she a cute soccer mom.  This, as well as all the other new images, will be in the store tomorrow!  Yay!!!

Well, in my case, I had to make her a bowling Mom.  I started coloring the soccer ball and realized I had no idea how to color a soccer ball so it became a bowling ball (hehe).  Next time I’m coloring the soccer ball first and then the rest of the image.  I saved the part I didn’t like for last; what a mistake.

The DP is DCWV Grade School stack and the buttons are from my white button stash.  I have a 1/2 gallon jar almost full of white buttons!  I think the sentiment is Hero Arts (her kids had a winning season).

I might not have any more cards until Sunday.  My niece’s bridal shower is in my back yard on Saturday.  I have A LOT of work to do before then.  Things will go back to normal after that (as normal as they can be)!

Flutterby Wednesday

Once again, it’s Wednesday so it’s Flutterby Wednesday.  These weeks are going by so fast!!!  Our challenge this week was set by Michele and it’s to use buttons and bows on your creation and, of course, to use a fairy or a butterfly.

I used the Tilda as Butterfly stamp with S.E.I. Chocolat paper  I got while in Utah.  I love going to the S.E.I. factory outlet when I’m in Logan!!!  I colored Tilda with watercolors before I picked out the paper but this matches perfectly, doesn’t it?  I ordered the Spellbinders a couple of weeks ago and this was the first chance I got use them.  I also used the MS border punch on two colors of coordinating paper and added some lace, ribbons and a button.

Now, go over to each of the DT member’s blogs (links on my sidebar) and to Dani’s blog and see some beautiful examples for inspiration; make your creation and go back to Dani’s blog to put a link to your card in Mr. Linky.

I was just going through some challenges for the week and The Next Level challenge is the same as FBW.  Yay!!!!

Modern Sugar Boulevard Release

Today I have for you the card from yesterday and another sneaky peeky from Modern Sugar Boulevard.

Did anyone guess?  I bet you didn’t.  Bacon and eggs.  Oh, now I’m hungry!!!  I could use a nice blueberry muffin to go with that, yum!  I water colored the bacon and eggs and used a  little yellow paint to highlight the sentiment but you can’t see it in the photo.  The DP is DCWV Nana’s Kitchen and the ribbon is from Michaels.  I used the MS border punch twice and the buttons are Favorite Findings.

Do you have any ideas?  I don’t think it’s what you think it is, ya think!?!  The new release is coming out on July 9th!!!

I went to all of my regular scrap hangouts to find some patriotic paper and found none in the nice bright colors. I searched and searched and found some free digi paper at Serenity Sheri's blog. I added a few buttons tied up with some crochet thread and some fun red rick rack and that was it!!!

Digi Night at Digi Shack

As part of the SNR Oh Say Can You See 4th of July Blog Hop the Digi Shack is holding Digi Night.  They are offering a free image as well as a sketch challenge.  If you participate in the challenge, you will be emailed a free image from the new release next week.  Also, on the Digi Shack blog, the are giving another digi image.  That means if you participate in the blog hop and the challenge, you will receive a total of three new digital images.  You have until Sunday Night to participate.

So, here’s my card for the challenge.  I used the lovely Patriotic Lani for my card.  She is one of the free images but I already had her anyway.

 

 

Here is the sketch.  There are three sets of four buttons attached to the card.  I love how this turned out.

I water colored Lani.  I like using blonde gals on patriotic cards because a little more color to the card and then I can use a bit of gold in my embellies.  The DP is DCWV Whimsy, the ribbon is Making Memories and the buttons are Favorite Findings I got at Wal-Mart.  They are a great buy at $2.29 for 130 buttons and they come in a ton of colors.

Crafty Bee a Bookmark

It’s my first challenge as a design team member for Bee Crafty! I love Merrigan’s images and they are so much fun to play with and color!!!

When I first saw this image I new it had to made into a bookmark.

I chose to make a corner bookmark for a child. I’ll probably be giving to my great nephew who will be turning 5. My niece's children all love to read, as well as being read to.

Here’s a look at the back of the bookmark.

I used the letters from the Bee Crafty Alphabet to spell out “read.” I strung some beads onto some ribbon and attached it to the corner. I used Prismacolors and OMS to color everything and the DP is from the DCWV Grade School stack.

Have you ever made a corner bookmark. They’re really quite easy and I make several blank ones at a time so that I can make one anytime. Now that I’ve gotten a Scor-Pal that will make it much easier!

Crafty Muse DT

I’ve been keeping this quiet until I had a card to post so now I can tell you.  I was chosen a member of the Design Team for Crafty Muse.  I am happy to be part of this team and to be able to use their lovely images in my creations!

 

This week’s challenge is a sketch and also to include ribbon and brads.

 

 

 

I chose two images for my card.  Sitting Princess Amber and the tree from the Once Upon a Time series to make a kind of scene.

I made a ribbon frame strung with beads that spell out Live, Dream, Wish and Hope.

The beads are kind of like baby bracelet beads but the are metallic colored and square.  I added jeweled brads to each corner.  The DP is from the DCWV Green stack.

I’m Done

‘Nuff said!

Over and Over and Over . . .

. . . Blue Cars with Yellow, Green and Blue Cans.

This is what I spent most of my day on – Painting blue cars with green license plates, yellow heart tail lights (I know tail lights are supposed to be red but that doesn’t match) and blue, green and yellow cans. Over and over and over again. Really only a dozen but, like I’ve said previously, I’m beginning to dislike green, yellow and blue! he-he I colored all of the yellow, then all of the green, then all the blue with my Prismas. Then…I used OMS and all of the yellow, then all of the green and then all of the blue. Phew! Then…I double matted them in blue and yellow. Oh, and I forgot about coloring the tires black.

That was it for today. Tomorrow, I will let the Cricut cut 12 white and 12 yellow circles while I cut 12 pieces of yellow cardstock and 12 pieces of floral paper. Then stamp, emboss, tie ribbon and put it all together with a cute little diamond ring on top! Phew, again!!! I didn’t think these would take quite so long. I thought I would have them done today. :- (

Oh well, at least I took the time to play with my Chloe! My favorite part of the day!!! She will spend hours chasing her “ball.” She thinks all toys are called “balls.”

2.Train A is moving at 60 miles an hour. Train B is moving at 22 miles an hour. They will pass each other at X time. Now what color shoes are you wearing when train A derails?  Pink high heeled spikes!!!

 

 

3. What if M&M's grew on trees? What color M&M tree would you have?  Green, of course!

 

4. How many petals on a flower does it take to make it the perfect bloom?  Any flower is perfect!

 

 

5. I took you to spend $421.67 on you, what did we spend that money on?  Copic markers.

 

6. If you were a squash, what type of squash would you be? Butternut, because it’s the sweetest—like me!

 

7. Have you ever gotten a wrong number call and ended up talking to the person for longer than 5 minutes?  No!

 

8. Why haven't you joined Berleen & Kimber at Insanity Cafe yet? Do we stink?  I don’t know and I don’t think so!

Shampoo bottles say lather, rinse, repeat... do you?  It depends on who’s joining me!  That reminds me of a funny story.  I once had a bottle of shampoo that said “tested on models, not animals.”  It gave me visions of hairless models!!!

Oh Say Can You See Blog Hop

Chirping Watermelon

What a great challenge this time at Chirper Challenge. It is to use brown, zig zag and brads. I went for the Shabby Chic look this time. I really love being on design teams because it really brings out the creativity. Sometimes I even dream about what my cards are going to look like. This was the case with the last two Chirper Challenges. I knew that I wanted to use a watermelon, this brown fringe and some rick rack. I didn’t actually dream about this card but it came to me as I was trying to go to sleep (I did dream last time’s card).

The watermelon cut is from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. All of the DP (and, if you look closely there is a LOT of designs) is from a K&Co stack. I distressed it ALL (and their were a lot of edges) with the edge of a scissor and a craft knife. It was very time consuming. I NEED to get a Ranger edge distresser but I can’t find one in any of the stores. Look closely and you’ll see some off white lace under the pom-pom trim (which was a RAC) and then the rick rack. I made a lollipop flower with a brad holding it together. However, when I got it all put together, I didn’t like the brad so I added a pom-pom from the fringe to it. I hope that it still meets the challenge, but there is a brad under there. Trust me (shifty eyes)!!!

Hello Flutterby!

Once again, it’s Wednesday so that means it’s Flutterby Wednesday! Wow, this week past by quickly. I thought I was giving myself plenty of time by doing my artsy room move on Friday in order to be able to get DT cards done by Wednesday. Phew, I almost didn’t make it!!! But it’s done and I feel like I have really accomplished a lot this week!

When I saw this cut on the new Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge, I new I had to use it for FBW. Isn’t it pretty? That cartridge has a lot of sentiments on it. I need to keep it in mind when making cards. Actually, one of these days I’m going to make a list of all the sentiments on the Cricut cartridges that I own. Then I can see at a glance if one will work for a particular card.

Sorry, but the pic didn’t turn out very well. The “hello” is a little washed out. However, I do wish I would have made it a little darker anyway.

The DP is a reversible sheet from K&Co. I used a border MS punch and added a few little pearlies. I learned a lesson with this card. When cutting images with the Cricut that are a little intricate, don’t use white core paper (hint-hint). Thankfully, I had a Sharpie that was close to this color to touch up the white marks that were left on the edges.
